As most of you know, the markings on the nose of Corsairs were actually tape. The panel seams seeped oil that got on the wind screen. On Marine's Dream, however, these are painted on. So, mine will be as well. Doing the white, then I can mask the lines off with scale with tape and apply the blue. Much easier this way.

I use an air brush to do the overlap of colors. I think it represents the over-spray of the full scale spray guns nicely.
I'm using War Bird Colors paints on this one. Sprays well, dries fast, and cleans up with water, and they are very accurate.
I use the military color #s instead of trying to match colors to pictures. You can look at 10 different full scale pictures and every one can look different depending on the angles to the lighting, the camera that took them, and the method of printing. A LOT of variables there.
I do use pictures for the shape of the overlays, locations of insignias, and other markings, just not colors.
I never use pictures of models to build models.

I wait 1 day in between overlay coatings. I try for 2 or three where masking is going to be needed. Even longer if paint masks are being used. Can't rush this part of the build, even though it is hard not to. This part is very exciting as she really starts to take shape, and it is fun.
So, paint curing, back to the fab shop to make more parts.

Glad to see this thread still going. For some odd reason RCU must have decided that I didn't need updates for several months, so I had several pages to go through. I thought the thread had died, lol.

The other bone I have to pick is the crazy way they now count pages. Why in the world is not the first page, the first page, instead of the last page being the first page? Did I say that right? I could, in the past, put together indexes for long threads so as to make it easier to find things, but not now. The page numbers keep changing. Stupid.
Anyway, RCU still does provide a great resource to share and learn, buy and sell, and for that I am grateful.
This tread will go on as long as our building jobs for this wonderful plane keep coming, as well as requests for all our upgrades. It is amazing how popular this plane still is around the world, which is a testament to how well CARF did with the design and manufacture. We are doing our best to keep up amidst the demands of our families and full time jobs. I put in for a 30 hr day many years ago. Maybe trump can fix that too.

Gary, maybe you could reference post numbers? Or are those getting screwed up too? I don't use RCU much anymore, there were some things happening I was getting tired of. May be time to give it another shot though, I have a plane and engine question I haven't been able to answer by searching, though not on the Corsair. Enough derailing the thread now, love all the stuff you guys do. Even if this plane is still out of my price range for now, I have thought of using some of what I see here to improve my old ziroli Corsair. Wish I had the time, don't know how you do it all.

Anyway, anything you want to ask is fine. I don't mind and maybe it will help someone else.
I need to see if indeed the post numbers change as well. I think they do. Good thought though.

Outer flap servo
Hey All,
Was discussing with Gary offline a little bit ago and he thought be a good idea to post here to see if any others have found this. When doing the outer flap servo, I found the servo mounting doesnt match the pictures in manual or text at all. Mine is deeply recessed which as you will see in one pic causes the arm to hit against wood rib. The only thing we thought of doing is putting in some spacer behind servo mounting tabs to get it out further. Anyone else seen this? I received this kit straight from factory about 1.5 months ago.
As Gary pointed out, CARF is known for their uniformity which makes this a bit puzzling.

Thank you for the post. We will figure this out together. The factory is building us a complete set of outer panels as we post this. I am anxious to see how they are set up and will post pictures when they arrive.
Our personal Corsair is equipped with hard points and rockets, but no guns. We will be building a second set of outer panels with no hard point but with our gun set installed. We will be able to configure either way. It will take awhile to get it all done as we have a lot of commitments, but we are looking forward to having the flexibility.
Also, if anyone is interested in a 215 with only a handful of flights after a complete check up by Julian, PM me.
