I have been working on the kit version of this model for the past three months, just curious to know if most builders are using the single servo option for the elevator? Also thinking ahead to paint options, and was wondering if anyone has used latex paints on the Carf Corsair instead of automotive type paints?

I used a single JR 8711 servo for the elevator. I used Tamiya spray can paints for the 3 color scheme which I thought were a great match and faded the colors in well, followed by Klass Kote clear satin finish. Mine came in at under the LMA1 limit at 54 lbs wet. I think latex paints will work as well and much cheaper. War Birds colors would work as well as they are latex. If you decide to epoxy clear over them, the latex needs to cure for a month.

Single servo on the elevator works just fine. The extra servo in the tail requires about 16oz more in the nose to balance. I have used War Bird Colors with good results. Clean the surface well then rough it up. The challenge is on the outer wing panels where the simulated fabric is. Much sanding and you loose the effect. I use a poly clear.

An update on our latest Idea. The development of a bolt on baffle system for the Moki, to be independent of the cowl. It will be simply a matter of removing the bolts in the front housing, installing the baffle, and reinstalling the bolts. The first units will fit the 215 and 250. The CAD is done and they are going through the fabrication bidding process. We are getting closer. Once a prototype comes out of manufacture, we will test it on our own 250, and 215. If all is well, full speed ahead. At this point, this is all being done by our fabricating partner. This frees us to concentrate on out other ongoing projects and parts. Should only be a short time to that first test piece.

Dave,
Fabricated the forms for the wheel well liners myself and had Brian at Dynamic Balsa pull them for me. He will have the forms and may be able to help you. Takes a little cutting and shaping for a fit but, is achievable. The door liners are from Prince Aviation. Dynamic balsa contact info here: Dynamic Balsa

I just put the wings, center section, and horizontals in a wing wing bag set made by Revoc. I put the fuse on quilts or pillows with the prop off and lay it in the back of my SUV. I can carry two big planes that way as the tails come together between the front seats.
