So Laura, be honest, was that some fancy editing, or did Doug do the honors? Regardless, congrats and great job. Looks really wonderful. Hopefully I will have a new one ready for next year as well. I had so much damage this past season, I have a ton of work to do, but look forward to flying with you guys.

Hi,

Great video and great flight! Do you have any pics of your firewall mods or other installation pics?

I don't have any taken during the building process but I can take a few snaps of the way it sits now if that'd help.

Hi,

That'd be great. I have a DLE 55, and between the prop-drilling and the firewall-moving, I'm not sure I want to use it instead of the Moki 2.1. The Moki's only drawback to me is the gobs of oil everywhere....

Nice job on the Spitfire.
Pink is historically accurate for planes serving in North Africa. Desert camo turned pink after prolonged exposure to the sun.
Attached photo's are of a P-40 from the Kalamazoo, Michigan air musium.

Here's a few pics of my installation...probably not much help but hopefully you get the idea. Basically, I used the stock firewall, added a 15/16" ply doubler and used 2 1/4" of standoff to get the location right. I've had the Moki 2.1...strong engine but way more expensive to operate in the long run. The DLE55 is a perfect match for this plane especially at this altitude. I would even dare to say, in this case, a superior choice.

That "Desert Sand" pink was very common in the African theater from B25's to Hurricanes and just about everything else in between. Our Spitfire is "Photo Recon Pink" from the European Theater of ops. Great article, thanks!

My pleasure.
Real men dont ???. Real men do what ever they want.
My mom had cancer surgery and released from St Joseph Mercy on the day my daughter was born 31 years ago. Mom passed 4 years ago with a heart attack. This toutches my heart.
Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat its failures.
Keep history alive!!!
Thanks for the Pink Spitfire!
