Hi Brad, you are correct with the comment regarding preventing metal contact between the radio equipment and the engine. I always make sure that I have some kind of insulation. In this case, the cable used as link to the servo is covered with plastic (the cable is from the Dubro pull-pull set), and I am using plastic horn on the servo.
The insert I made is to act as a bushing. The sides of the clevis still contact metal-to-metal with the carburettor, so the bushing could not be used as insulator.

As a side note to the topic, I am curious to know how big is the R/C community in Port Hedland?
So far I had no opportunity to visit up there, but you never know...

Cheers,
Eran

Agree with Brad, also using the outside holes on the servo and carb arms will reduce play. You ca always control the throw from the Tx

I got back to work on the ME-109 today, and started masking the cockpit in preparation for painting.
A very small progress, but a progress...
At the moment the temperatures are way too high to attempt any painting, but I want to be ready if opportunity presents itself.

Looking forward for tha paint job! Tip: I applied thin strips of aluminuim tape before masking the windows, it is extra work but will give more depth to the frame.

Jose -I was thinking of doing it, but on second thought, I got the detailing to where I wanted it to be.
Now I am just looking forward to painting and test flying it .

After weeks of hot weather, today was 26 Celsius, and first section of primer coat is on.
Starting with the bottom of the fuselage.

It's so close and at the same time so far away.
My new job leaves me with very little time to work on the aeroplane.
This must change...

While not ideal conditions (probably too hot), I did coat the top of the wing with primer today.

No Jose, I will not burn rivers or make panel lines.
I will complete the painting (only major markings) and adding the few scale items such as the exhaust stacks and guns, but this is pretty much it.
I really want to get into the flying stage .

Nothing wrong with that, you will probably will get more detail in your next one!! Scale is something you get into deeper and deeper with the next project!
Here is my Ta152 custom exhaust, I spent 8 hrs. in my friend shop today!

I know what you mean with the scale growing on you. It happened to me with the cockpit.
With so little time available for me to build, I have to settle for more "practical" approach of what is "enough scale".
Truth is, that I choose your ME-109 because it was the only one I found which had the correct landing gear stance. Visually it looked correct while other ARF's and kits do not, trying to "cheat" with the landing gear.
My ME-109 was always intended to be a general flying scale aeroplane ("sport scale"), which I will take to the airfield often, and not a "show queen". I just never envisaged it will take me so long to build :-)

Your muffler is awesome. You will obviously provide it as an optional accessory with the kit? (just kidding)
Is the engine a DLE55RA?

I got the Swiss cross markings stencils ready. With some lack I will get some airbrushing done this week.

And a bit more done today, the stencils for the fuselage are now in place.
The wing required some filler in the pin holes, so short delay with the stencils.

My wife allowed me to airbrush the fuselage in the house today (which is usually not negotiable).
I think that it helped that I looked quite unhappy all day after noticing that the stencil started to come off (struggling to stay in place on the compounded curve).

Thank you Jose.
I had a scare that I will have to put everything on hold due to supplier change in Australia (I could not source the paint anymore and there was no ETA for availability).
However, I managed to source all the paint for the ME-109 in another state, and it is on its way.

Painting re-commenced yesterday at David's shed. Red is now completed .
My friend Brian and I also tested a spray-gun over the weekend. This was quite successful and Brian will paint the underside blue and the top dark green.

Good job Eran, nice rare scheme.

I'm guessing you're going for something like:
