Drool. I finally got my CARF Extra 330L ready for its maiden, but again, no time. I did do a taxi test, found that castering the tail wheel on grass is a no-no, and busted my nice big prop on a hidden object in the ground in the process. Found some springs to tie the tail wheel to the rudder, but haven't finished balancing the replacement prop.

first of all congratulations to your project and your great documentations. I just got in together with my father. He's gonna build it and I'm responsible for all the equipment.... So funny enough that Bruce Sanders' youtube video made it to your thread. It's the gear he built for me. I insisted to get the electric retract so he built the controller incl. door sequencer. I can't wait to get the plane into the sky. Still haven't decided about the engine...
Have you already had some flights with the DLE55s? How is your experience with that engine? Is it reliable and powerful enough for this bird?

These DLE55's are my first experience with this manufacturer. I bought them because 1) over the last few years, I have talked to other pilots that think they are great and 2) they came out with rear exhaust engines. Since the plans only call for G-38's, the engines should be more than enough power. One nice thing with overpowering is able to use more scale props.
As for weight, I never weigh them: I can't remove the weight after they are built, so I don't worry about it. Although, I would guess around upper 40's lbs, mainly due to all the extra 'stuff' that I added to the plane: ie, clam shell doors, bomb drop, rotating turret, full cockpit detail, etc.
I haven't flown the plane yet: too busy wanting to get lots of flights on my corsair.

I put some Frank Bowman rings in my DLE-55's, rear exhaust. I also got a new gasket set. The ring was easy to replace while the engine was still on the plane. The cylinder head was removed, the new ring added and the cylinder head re-attached, with a new gasket, using the four bolts. If the ring is tight, hard to insert cylinder head or hard to turn over the prop, some 320 grit sand paper slipped once or twice where the ring ends meet should take care of it (Frank's suggestion, not any expertise on my part).
I replaced the left engine ring awhile ago and ran both engines last week: I can't remember the exact RPM difference but it was at least 300 more RPM's with the new ring. After replacing the ring on the right engine, the engine was going to idle when the throttle was advanced. This occurred about three times before the engine finally throttled up. I don't claim to be an engine expert but I was surprised at how fast the new rings made a difference as the right engine was now running at about the same RPM's as the left engine.
The engines are producing around 5800 rpm's on the 20X10 4-blade biela props: not the usual 6600 rpm's that I like but I find the combined power of two engines on a twin exceeds the individual power needed for a single engine plane, plus this plane will only fly in circles with no aerobatics involved.
She's ready for her maiden. Depending on if I get the 110" P-47 ready plus storage room in the trailer, I maybe able to take her south next month to Mac's rally of the eagles and Frank's 12 O'clock high.

I've got friends at both places so the decision was difficult. I told Chuck that I was at Elkhart last year but will go to Lexington's flyin this year. My Moki may be coming back from TBM, soon, and I'll probably have to sign for it so not sure on what days that I'll be at Lexington.

I know this Robart kit, but I prefer the electric servoless retracts. So one of the possibility I´m thinking about is not scale retract. Probably B-25 system.

I see you use DLE-55. Friends with multi engines planes say, that better are less powerful engines, because of asymmetrical thrust during flight with only one engine. For example static thrust of ROTO 35 Vi is 9.5 kg. So the plane up to 19 kg will fly. I think that should be engough for one go around and landing (no climbing).

The B-26 retracts almost go vertically straight up versus the B-25 that go backward so that will have to be compensated for if B-26 retracts are not used.
Nice looking B-25 in the video.

Well after only 4 years, I'm finally going to fly the B-26 at Dino's memorial flyin in Georgia, next week!
I had some 4 blade 19X10 props but only getting 5800 rpm;s on the DLE-55's so I switched to some Xoar 3 blade 20X10's getting 6600 rpm's, which I'm more comfortable with. After a few flights, if there seems to be enough power, I'll switch back to the 4 bladers.
