Thanks but now I'm questioning the setup even though it works and has the same footprint as the old version. I'm wondering if I should use my dremel and cut the portion where the canopy is glued to and use it as my frame for the new canopy. This will thin out the lines, not having them so thick but I'll have to make a new back plate and open up the old just to seat the frame of the new canopy..hope this makes sence as I lost myself a bit here[&:]

Working on the top rails will determin what I'll do.

Absolutely. Doing it this way again like the Dora means some big changes to Tys cockpit kit.

A little more. I used the wood to detail the position of the rails. I need to buy some light weight tin or similar for this area, about .030 thick to match the styrene. I did like mentioned prior with cutting the frame of the existing canopy area with the dremel and used it as the frame for the canopy.

Thanks! She's all filled and primed now.all all the details worked out and didn't need the tin to get it strong enough to work. I'll start the windows possible Sunday but I'm waiting for my aerodetail to arrive before I do anything else.I'll leave that grey back in there until the windows are installed and cut it out from behind.. I'm really liking the hatch since I didn't need the whole fuse to work on.

Got the top plastic in the top. This took two attempts and I would've had this on the first but I got trimming happy[:@]

Oven at 350, I wrapped the top of the canopy with white printing paper and masking tape! the rest can be seen in the picture. Perfect each time with no complications.. Now that it's out of the way, I can do the easy part..

Thank you I'm pleased with the outcome thus far. I was told that the engineering portion and development stages were going to be painful.. And this turned into a small investment with all the little purchases to complete this. Some of which could've been prevented if I had a better plan inicially but I'm glad it worked out after all.

I purchased some small items to add more detail to the cockpit kit and when I get a three view, I'll start the armored headrest.

Looks like with the addition of the canopy and it's supports, I won't be able to use the cockpit kit sides.[&o] since I've cut the portion that the cockpit was designed to overlap and added the thicker wood under this to support the canopy, it won't fit without butchering some of the major details. Looks like I'll get to make my own cockpit after all. That's ok though, I'll just go all out on it using the few pictures I have. At least I can get the dash from iflytailies.com when they're in stock and piece together the sides.

Thanks I was determined to accomplish this task as I just couldn't accept defeat and that other canopy on my favorite version of the 109. Mine may look like everyones elses from afar but up close there will be several differences.

I've been looking over the cockpit details on a really nice platinum BF109 to get an idea of all the details I'll need to complete for my cockpit. I think I'll carve all the parts and faacuum form them on the new vacuum board I made which originally was to make the canopy.

After this, I'll be working the radiator flaps..I'm hoping I won't need to strip the wing to accomplish this.

N8622T, if you want, I can trace my canopy details as I saved the Templets and send them yo you along with the measurements I used.

Hey Ramstein...

Fliteskin has a pretty good panel(I believe that this may be a Chad V design?)

I had very little time to work on the frame today but I got it hinged by using a 1/2inch Nelsons miniature piano hinges. I had to remove 1/16 from both top and bottom to create a gap for the hinge and canopy to seat correctly. I secured it with button head screws from my LHS.

Ram what diameter is your Gene Barton spinner for your FW190D9? I would like to order one and will he cut and drill it to fit a particular prop and engine?
