    RE: ESM 50cc ME-109

Would you mind posting the pivot point to axle distance on the standard Sierra gear? The larger size with the functional downlink. I have an IMP FW190d9 that I'd like to retrofit the Sierra gear into.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm building one for a local friend who's having financial issues at the moment. It has the Sierra gear and Meister tail wheel just like mine did. He also has the unpainted spinner. If all fails, I'll be posting it on site with his permission with his information and pictures. So far, the only work that's been done is the later updated canopy of my design has been made.

    I'll keep you posted.

My friend, right now, it's too much for me to pull that wing out and measure the gear. Post your question here and maybe one of these gents can help out.

I was hoping someone had the gear at hand and could measure for me, SGS can be tough to get on the phone sometimes. Great gear though.

Nice sound from your Laser engine :-)
Here are some pics of my engines and I think I go for the 3W with Reduction Drive and 27X12 Prop.
The engines are Supertiger 4500,6000 (45&60cc) 3W 80 (80cc) if I tilt the 3W IΒ΄dont have to cut the engine cover.

Hi,Trond I'm going to use gears and transmission belt to reduce the speed I'm not sure what ratio I should use? may be some one have a clue what to use?
The 3W can swing a 24X12 on direct drive but I want it to swing the more scale 27X12 prop.
I also think I have to add a gyro on the rudder as I have on my Jetlegend F-15 to get better ground handling when I get the extra torq from the bigger prop.

I have a geared Laser200V with a modified Mick Reeves gear. It drives a 24"x12" threeblader at 4300. The gear ratio is 1 to 1,75.
Vi are planning to build a gear for the 300V in the Gustav too.
Torque is no problem on my Fw190

Wiking, I am interested in as much info as possible on how you manage to gear the 3 W engine.

-Links to parts you will use,

    - Will you make anything yourselves? I hope not, will complicate it for me....

    - Link to where you buy the 3 W engine.

    It would help me greatly.

    Possible?

For maiden flight, and, maybe the first 10 flights I would go for a cheap "standard propeller", otherwise I am afraid it would be an expensive experiment.....

How are you keeping the 300v cooled, and are you using a shaft extension?

A question for you gentlemen who have experience with both the ESM 50cc FW and the 109. Aside from personal preference for looks - is there anything to choose between the two in the areas of flight characteristics and assembly? I have the T-6 II and love it; trying to decide between these two for my next project. Thanks.

    RE: ESM 50cc ME-109

Not having seen or flown the 109 I can't comment, But I do have plenty of flights with the Dora and all I can say is that it is one of the best flying warbirds I have even owned!! Unlike the 109 it has a very wide track U/C, and doesn't have a nasty tendancy to swing on takeoff either. The long lines of the Dora make it like a pattern ship more than anything else, and most people can't believe how slow I can get the 26lbs model to fly by.

Just beautiful point and shoot model. solid, and wouldn't hesitate to go straight back out and buy another one if the unmentionable was to happen....

    RE: ESM 50cc ME-109

    Hi Guys,

I just started putting this one together. This is more of a general question I think.... Ive never built or flown anything this heavy.

How is everyone handling the down right thrust angle on this plane? It looks like the telescoping motor mount is straight (or certainly not angled enough for me to notice). I plan on running this electric, and im not sure how to proceed. Id ont see anything in the manual either (maybe i missed it). Any advice would be most helpful!

    RE: ESM 50cc ME-109

I did the ESM fw-190 D9 50cc plane as electric and I didnt add any right or down thrust. I just bolted the standoffs and motor directly to the firewall. I dont have any issues taking off or general flying.

The 109 has narrow under carriage so a little right thrust might help. To do that, simply put a decent size washer under the standoff(or motor mount corner) on the right top bolt. This is oriented by looking at the plane from the front. This will give a degree or so of down and and right thrust.
