Almost finished! Need another engine run and a little more weathering and Erich will be ready for his first mission.

I would rate the service that Tomas provides beyond great, it's excellent. I got an e-mail from Tomas this morning telling me that UPS could not deliver my FW-190 Sierra retracts yesterday due to no one at my home to accept delivery. His e-mail notified me that I could pick up my retracts at my local post office. That's what I call excellent "Customer Service"!!

HI...

Can anyone tell me what the correct C.G. is on this plane! I balance per manual @ 143mm and it is little tail heavy. Very Very sensitive on elevator.

Thanks,Vincent

Reduce your elevator throw and add some expo....if that doesn't help just add 4 ounces to the nose

It is typical for ESM to make the mistake of listing the CG at the aft limit range instead of the center mid range of CG. Usually when an RC aircraft manufacturer, like TF lists the CG for a specific model it's at the mid CG, with a range forward and aft of what is listed in the manual as 5/16" (8mm) forward or aft. Since you flew at 143mm CG and found the aircraft to be tail heavy, move your CG forward to 138mm, fly and see if you need to move it more forward to 135mm or it may seem perfect at 138mm for your style of flying.

sorry to hear, beautiful looking plane.. how did it fly? I have the old CMP 109 somewhat smaller flies great, also the old Black Horse 86 inch 109.. love how that one flies.. but it is built so lightly I am afraid it will break just sitting on the field

Quite an old thread, but I thought I'd post about my ESM 109. Picked it up used last year, finally got around to building it. I stripped and glassed the wing and stab. Added a bunch of panel lines and rivets and painted it in a new scheme. It has a Ty's cockpit kit with a Best Pilots Gunther figure. I had the stock air retracts in it, but I needed to modify the mounts, both for strength and to take out some of the rake. While doing that I put in some Robart main units and adapted the stock struts to fit. I used Sierra Giant Main wheels. Engine is a VVRC 60 rear exhaust. I found that it flies well with a 21X10 3-blade prop. The Falcon German style work nice, but those are on backorder.
It flies nice. At 30 lbs. it doesn't like to slow up too much, tends to fall out of the sky a bit. I'm getting it figured out though, hope to get it to a few Warbird events in the Midwest this year. Here's a photo.

Looks fantastic Todd! Great paint scheme!

I had one still in the box for several years. Finally got around to building it.
It has a DLE 55 with a carb heat shield and Bowman ring.
Sierra Giant retracts and wheels.
Under the hatch is the fuel fill port, on/off switch, retract fail-safe, retract air pressure gauge, and on-board tachometer.
Have both 2 and 3 blade spinners.
Haven't flown it yet.
