That looks great! I sold some parts and setting aside money
I want to build this one as a very light flyer, no added bells and whistels.
Looking at a few different setups to make it a rocket ship, don't want scale, just balls out fun!!
I'm thinking about the setup I have in my GS Top Flight at 26.5 pounds it hauls butt! so this plane should be more like 20 pounds.
I'm thinking about the AXI 5345/14 with a 20x11 carbon prop on 12s 5000 mah.... I hit 4000 watts over 9000 RPM
That should do it!
The other nice setup with be the Hacker A60-14 or 16L , on 12s 5000 mah, would have to mess with props but sure I could get around 3700 watts...
I'm aiming for 200 watts per pound just to have fun with it

There is really nothing that could make me feel great paying that much for an ARF of this quality.

NICELY SAID MAN..............Prices are going up on everything.....HUGE price increases in the children's toy business which is what I make my living in. There are less expensive P-47 arfs out there.
YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR............that being said, there are choices, do your homework, make your choice, buy it, build it...........

I love that they're doing another big bird with redesigned components that were weak spots on the razorback, but my fear is that the cost will scare off people who will realize that the Robarts retracts being purchased seperately, (though an excellent quality product)makes this ARF into a very expensive choice for many modelers (especially in today's econmy).
Granted, there are plenty of people who would have chosen to go that route anyway (Like me if this was a re-released razorback-I not a fan of the bubble canopy D (but that's just me)). However, I fear that when the H9 marketing team looks at the sales #'s, they'll say "oh we'd better not manufacter any more Giant Scale birds because they don't sell", because of the low number sold... (Similar to whay TF or H9 don't make AXIS aircraft -Becuse they claim Axis planes don't sell). But the actual problem is the price point.

The retracts for this model should fit. The only issue you will be faced wtith may be the scissor link may not completely fit into the wheel well area as the current model has larger wheel well. The mounting holes for the Robart unit are also slightly different than the H9 units, but the amount is slight and you should be able to remove a littel material from the Robart retract mounting holes with a dremel.

I really like my H9 Razorback (with Robart retracts and Dubro wheels) but would not pay $750 for the new one. When you factor in the retracts you aren't getting it's about twice the price.

I really pumped the H9 is releasing this updated and reworked P-47.
I was always really bummed that I didn,t get the razorback version.
The Robart retracts for both planes are within $10 of one another so the cost difference between the H9 and the TF P-47'S is approx $100.
I like both.
Way to go H9 and TF.

What I have on my razorback is Robart 631RS retracts, 672R & 672L Robart struts, and 4.5" Dubro wheels. That set up is basically the same as their P-47 package except the struts stick out below the wing a little bit further.

For those of you wanting a razorback, I purchased the Razorback conversion from Wyliewarbirds.com. I used it on my TF P-47. The quality of the glass work was excellent. You would need the razorback canopy from TF. It would take a little work, but it would be a razorback.

Just to help clarify a few specifics about the landing gear that Robart is producing for Hangar 9 to specifically fit the new P-47D Thunderbolt.
The stock Robart 631 units and the model specific units that Robart developed for the previous Hangar 9 razorback will bolt into the mounting rails of this new model, but that is about the only similarity. The new units have a custom length strut and the lower oleo leg has been altered to allow for clearance of the new larger 5 1/8" wheel so the stock struts will not work. The new strut has attachment holes for the gear doors and also some standoffs that will keep the door aligned flush to the surface of the wing.
The retracts will include the air install kit and all the bits and pcs for a complete install.
The model will come with inner gear doors that you will cut for the clearance of main wheels and then glue into the model, but for those looking to have working inner gear doors you could hinge these doors and then use either a servo or small air cylinder to actuate and sequence these inner doors.
We will be working on a full build video prior to release showing the assembly of this model along with some pretty cool how to scale techniques.

I`m in too, I`ll like to have both versions since I already have de razorback.
A question, can the cowl of the new version can be adapt to the old razorback? It is sad not to be able to fix or get specific parts like a cowl for such a beautiful and nice flying airplane. It seems that fellows flyers and customers of Hangar 9 are in the same situation of not been able to replace the cowl of the razorback. If was the case that the cowl of the new version can be use; can hangar 9 put up for sale a cowl version in the colors of the old razorback ?? or just plain white to be painted to give hangar 9 customers an alternative.

The new cowl will fit the older model razorback, but you will need to grind out the internal hidden mounting formers on the new cowl.
