Hacker motors can't be rear mounted... they have a cage style mount (there are other mounts but all are front mount on the hacker)

The rear cooling fan on the back of the motor doesn't allow for rear mounting....so I tried to extend the shaft with a collet, bad idea, it put a bad viberation in the mix. With the collet gone and the cage mount extended all is well. Just doesn't looks as nice up front. I was thinking of calling hacker to see if custom shafts are possible? it only needs about 1 1/2 inches to clear the back of the dummy engine

Of course I would have to hack out the old dummy motor which I epoxied in.... it could all be done with a little work. Even a machine shop may be able to make the shaft for me. After a few more flights I may look into it... I also plan to add more detail to the plane and weather it

Thank You Ron. I have not used hacker motors, just e-flite lightning and monster power. I am thinking of selling my mustang and buying this next year. What servos are you using.

JR DS821s? No problem - that's what I have in my bubble-converted Razorback (haven't flown it yet).

Yes true until 50-size, A60, A80, A150 and A200 are rear mounted, but way too large for the P-47...(just purchased a used A80 from a colleague....going to be the engine for my next winter project, most probably an Extremeflight Yak 54 88 size or the new, unreleased 91 size)

My P-47 is almost finsihed, just building in the electric retractable main gear from Robart. Unfortunately, the electric Robart retractable tail gear is sold out and on backorder everywhere........mine is on backorder with Hobbylinc since February, they say ist should arrive late April....let's hope so!

I finally went with this Configuration:

- Axi 5345HD/16 (195 Kv)
- 22 x 12 Mejzlik Carbon 2-blade.
- 10s /4500 mAh
(30C), later upgrade to 12s with smaller Propeller possible
- and built in a Benedini Soundsystem, as still tailheavy with the heavy Axi.

Thinking of trying also a Biela 4-blade 20x10 scale propeller.....looks awesome, efficiency would of course suffer and it is very expensive, about 120 dollars.

I can't wait to see that baby flying.....

Still no video
But I've been getting more flights on my P-47
I'm able to get 7:00 minute flights now.... I'm useing better throttle control

This has to be the best giant scale warbird ever to fly..... it's such a sweet heart.

I made new gear doors out of aluminum and that worked out for me.... can't say enough good things about this plane

My rear retract finally arrived 3 weeks ago (finally ordererd it directly from Robart). And my P-47 had it's maiden flight yesterday! Configurattion you see in my earlier post. I built in a Benedini Sound System with two loudspeakers under the cowling, with the Axi, the two loudspeakers and 2 x 4500 5s Lipo (10s) plus two 2s 2600 Lipos for the RC my center of gravity was just perfect withoud adding any weight - goal achieved!

Now the maiden flight (will post link to youtube later.....have to edit the video): As our runway is only about 40 meters in lenghth (60 meters with grass), I was a little concerned. No need to be concerned! The plane lifted off after about 20 meters, this plane is just phantastic and as Ron said, it flies like a trainer! I have never seen a scale plane with such outstanding flight characteristics - Hangar 9 have just done an incredible job on this!
Landing: With flaps in landing position, adjustment of flightpath is as easy as can be, just came in tame like a puppy!

Looking forward to post link to video, I can only recommend this plane to everybody who is looking for an easy to fly, great looking and impressive warbird - 1a!
Here two Pictures after the maiden - semi scale Propeller was great in flight and on the ground!

looking forward to the video. I still have 2 more payments on mine. Then I have to start the saving for the retract 500 wow that will take me a while. I want to run with redundant power on this and fly with a DX7. Using ds821 means I can not go higher the 6v so what would folks suggest.

Man they dropped the price all the way down to $399. but looks like they are out of stock.... I would almost buy one as a back up for the price and it's such a sweet plane. Wonder if they will replace it with something or is this it for the giant scale P-47?

399 bucks is incredible! No wonder they are already out of stock.......may be they will be coming with a new version where the retract is already included (just speculating). I do not see anything to be improved on the kid besides a few details, Oracover in tail section was not too good in my kit, but including the main and rear retract it is an expensive plane (I guess nobody would fly this baby with the fixed gear......).

I would suggest a direct 6v source to the Rx and a reg. "step-down" to 5v for the servos.

I have a schematic for this in my files somewhere... IF "necessary" I can look for it in my PC files. Cheers, V.

So what's the problem? DS821's are fine with 6 volts, there is no reason to step down the voltage.

Sorry I misread the question. Maybe the question was about redundancy. ?

I am sorry for any confusion, redundancy is exactly what I am looking for.

Got a question. Did everyone put the receiver on the supplied board under the battery tray? I have a spectrum ar7010 and worried that the RX that close to Lipos will cause interference.
