RE: Martin Baker MB.5 Refurbish
Hey PJ looks good brothaman! but i gotta call BS on this.....ITS WAY TO EARLY to be done with a top gun plane!.....i suggest stripping it down again and redoing it so you have to be painting on the trip down to tg! all joking aside it looks good! i remember seeing fred menna flying that back in the late 90's, see ya at top gun!

Hey PJ,
AWESOME!!!!! Your refurbish of the plane really brought it back to life. Wish I was still flying so I could show you how to bring it alive in the air!! LOL Mitch, good hearing from you and really miss the times we did our dogfights. Miss flying with you and your Dad and the rest of the Warbird crew. I may be doing another MB 5 in conjuction with Ram-bro. If it happens I will be doing a build thread on here. Good flying at TG and bring home the hardware.

Still the best eeathering jobs i have seen. I am in the process of weathering my p47 and it is coming out pretty good so far. I will be using or trying the black chalk and brush method you mentioned. What did you use to clear coat your plane. Oh yea I also steel wooled mine to help get a weathered effect. I painted with silver rustoleum and MM Olive drab. Painted with rattle can to get the uneven war weary look i really appreciate all your advice. Good luck at Top Gun

Hey,
You have the right approach. Thats all I would do. I clear coated the plane with Lustercoat of all things. Its simple, no clean up and you can still buy it from Tower. I would steel wool the entire plane first, then use the chalk. This way, the chalk will find its way in the tiny grooves the steel wool made. After you are all done, shoot it with a coat of Lustercoat and your all done.

Hi PJ Glad to see your still enjoying your MB 5, that's one fantastic looking refurb.
Can we assume that it's been flying since the rebuild? It makes me wont to dig out the broken remains of mine from the loft :^)
P.S just found some photos from Top Gun. Looking GOOD!!!!!
