RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.

I've been working on my Corsair for a few days now and have some questions:

The Robart mains will not install because the air nipple at the back of the cylinder hits part of the retract pocket. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm surprised I have to modify the wing to fit retracts the plane was designed for.

Also, any ideas how to cover the gap between the fusealage and the horizontal stab filler block? I'm really not happy with the way it looks. I originally thought I could monokote over it before I realized the filler piece is fiberglass.

Is anyone else working on this plane.....................this thread seems to be going VERY slowly..................[&o]

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.

I bought one of these but due to lack of time (working on other projects) I have asked a friend to do this build for me. He is an expert builder and will incorporate mods such as a fuse hatch for the switches and fill valve, fully functional main gear doors via air cylinders, extended tail wheel for better ground clearance and appearance and improved method for operating the tail gear doors. He has not mentioned any problems so far in the assembly of this plane but I will post some pics when I get the plane returned to me.

I have just finished one for a friend and I had no major problems with the build. Their may be some minor problems with the kit but all in all I would rate the kit as excellent. Another fiend of mine just finished his and he claims the same results as mine.

couple more.... Also have to finish painting the cowl underside. I realize it is far from scale but I just wanted to have some fun with this one an make it a little different.

BTW, for anyone interested in buying one. If you are/near central Fl, Bob's Hobby Center has two of them left. Also have mains and tailwheels.

Check it again, there should be NO reason to have to modify anything if using the Robarts. You have to push the retract unit towards the leading edge until it contacts it. That way the nipple will not hit anything. It is close but no contact.

Someone asked about wheel size. I have 5 inch mains and they work fine. The wheel doors are a tight fit when closed but they do close completely. The retracts should work fine with no modification.
If for some reason the end air nipple on the retract cylinder is pointing toward the wing, just remove the cylinder mounting pin from the retract and rotate the cylinder 180 deg, remount the pin and you’re good to go.

Here's how they make the main doors work on the BH Corsair. It's essentially the same way TF has done the tailwheel doors.

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.

Would someone please measure from the firewall (not the spacers) to the thrust washer. I'm installing a DA50 and it does not give any measurement in the instructions. It just tells you to use the DLE standoffs and 3 spacers. I don't know what the length of the DLE standoffs is. I don't want to find out I have a problem when I try to install the cowl.

Also it looks like the cowl does not overlap the fuse.....is this correct???

Can someone help me out here......Thanks

Thank you..................my DA standoffs are 65mm.

I wonder if I should use an extra (4 total) spacer.

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.

My manual says to use 3 of the supplied spacers for the DLE 55 but after I got the engine hung it looks like it might stick out too far forward. I notice that the dummy radial might protrude somewhat so we will see. Right now using just one spacer looks better. Any input from thaose who are done?

I also thought the same thing about the dummy engine but it has since grown on me. I ended up using the three spacers as per the manual. I had to work quite a bit for the dummy to fit forward enough but i got it.
