    RE: Restoration of my H9 P51 .60....

    ORIGINAL: Mustangman40

Looking good, your doing a nice job on it.. I had one of these planes years ago and I know why you are redoing it, they fly great..*Definitely worth the effort for such a good flying plane, keep up the good work...[img][/img]
Thanks mustangman.... Im definitely excited about the way it is coming along. I need the encouragement. And youre right, this thing flies incredibly realistic. And it hauls ***** with the os 75ax. It pretty much started with the motor. This plane has been flown so much the piston started to bore through the liner. So instead of an engine overhaul, I wanted to rotisserie the plane and refurb it. Since it will be sharing Top Flite parts, should I call it a Top 9 , Hangar Flite, Flite 9, or Top Hangar P-51??

DAKOTANOVASS i got your pics, i did not see them yet, my computer at work blocks my email and my phone quality doesnt do justice. I really appreciate the pics and will let you know how they came out...... thanks again

haha wow! that looks pretty cool. I think we have the same plane. I am going to do custom wheel pants as well, h9 discontinued them too. Who makes those struts? Are they pretty sturdy??
Yep mine was the hanger 9 Maria, those are robart robo struts... very sturdy and help to not bounce
I have had the miss america 60 on electric power for several years and it's still one of my favorite planes and flys really nice!!

Working on the tail..... I am doing a 1 piece tail look, smoothing and blending. Really impressed with how this came out. This plane will never be scale competition worthy, but since this is my first covering job, it's definitely a great learning experience. Cheers!

Now i am starting to cover the fuse.... Being a mechanic for 12 years i learned to always start with the hardest part first! The wing fairings! After 2 attempts at it i got it down. This Chrome Ultracote is truly a pleasure to work with. Respect it and watch your temps, and it will come out great!

    Hey Terrell-

Glad you've been following this! Hopefully when funds free up i'll go to my local sign and lettering shop and get the Dakota Kid and the 358th decals printed in Vinyl..... Mechanically it's ready. Cosmetically it's not 100% but it's close!!! Thanks for keeping tabs!
