Warbird for DLE 20
I´ve just come into ownership of a DLE 20 with 4 flights usage very cheap... and always wanted a warbird.. so now seems like a good time!
I've noticed the H9 bluenose, as well as the TF 60 size P51 (the one with the green on top and yellow/red spinner).
Both of which I can get mail-order here in spain.
Can anybody also recommend some spitfire options that would also be suitable???
Plus comments on those two p51s? I had read in another thread that the TF one is both cheaper an better?

RE: Warbird for DLE 20
I can't comment on the H9 Version, but I have the TF P-51 and originally had a DLE 20 in it, while I never flew it with that combination( stuck the motor in something else), the plane itself is very nice as far as arf's go. I did put robarts air retracts in mine along with a YS 1.10. I don't think you'd be upset with the TF. The DLE fits quite nicely.

RE: Warbird for DLE 20
I have DLE 20s in a TF Mustang, kit built P-40 and H9 Hellcat. The Mustang had a cooling, vapor lock problem. I had to duct air from the scoop under to cowling to the carb area and install air flange in front of the cooling air exit hole. After that no problems. The P-40 worked good and I ducted air the to carb through the top scoop. The installation on the Hellcat was simple. No problems.

Ceecrb1,
If you don't want to see the muffler sticking out the side of a 60 size P51 or Spitfire, you can look at either the Hangar 9 Hellcat or the Hanger 9 P47. They are much better suited for a motor with the muffler on the side. Just my 2 cents worth.

Here are some picture of the installation in the P-40. I have found the DLEs to be powerful, easy starting and easy to tune. How long they will last, I don't know. I'm using a Master Airscrew 16-8 three blade which works good. About 8,250 to 8,400 rpm. Plenty of power. The Hellcat and P-40 to power is good. In the its awsome.

I used the J-Tec compact pitts muffler in the Mustang and P-40, the stock muffler in the Hellcat. They are a bit pricey at about $80 here in the US.

Thanks for all the replies...
In the end I've ordered the TF p51...
At first I didnt like the green, and prefered the style of the more modern p51s with nose colorings... But to be honest the green has grown on me....
