Yes, should be ready to maiden early new year Jim..... I have used numerous pits / wraparounds and never had a problem so not overly concerned, but I will update if issues do arise.

Well, we always knew that Typhoon models would take some nose weight. I had mine together, and I did a quick balance check and I actually thought it didn't feel like it would need much. We'll see in a few months.

Very nice! How was it for vibration? Did the spinner and backplate seem good for balance?

Spinner and backplate spot on, no vibration at all. When revved to mid range the back-plate looks stationary its that's plumb.... Hard to believe a lump like that can run so true.....

Hats of to Mr Vailly I say

Been up to the field today for taxing and engine run ups..... boy that motor is powerful. She wanted to fly but I will wait just a little longer for rpm to increase a little more than the 5800....

I still probably have at least three months work.... dashboard, signal markings and inner doors all to do, but I wish to fly her prior to this.. . Your dash is superb, I often visit your thread which is first class

WhiteRook, the exhaust stacks are available from Fighteraces here in the UK, they are excellent, but I had to sink them into the cowl a little deeper than expected to make them look "about right". They were sprayed silver then red then a mixture of a rusty colour then black. After this, they had all kinds of rubbing treatment to make them look as though they have been hot. Obviously, the entire model has to be weathered so more "dirting" will be applied.

Well done mate. I might get around to building my Vailly Tempest one day. Have everything to do the build including the sierra scale retracts and wheels. DA-85 for the nose.

Outstanding! My heartiest congratulations! Any and all tips on flying would be greatly appreciated. I would dearly love to hear your opinion on how she flew and handled, and if there are any obvious vices of which i should be aware.

The first flight was a little hairy due to needing plenty of down trim but soon settled into a beautiful flying machine. Takeoff was straightforward with only minimal rudder correction to maintain tracking, I deliberately kept her on the deck as long as I could and then applied just a touch of elevator and she was away, no effort at all. The da 85 pulled it well and once airborne with the majority of the flight at 1/2 power. The aircraft has no nasty vices, reduce throttle and she simply sinks, minimal stall characteristics. I did notice once the gear was tucked away she ballooned slightly but nothing major. Full flap was applied and no trim change apart from slowing the plane down. I have intial rates set at all I can get on all surfaces which proved to be just fine, nice and smooth. Landing was ok, reduce speed but maintain power and she comes in well.

My cousin also maidened this beautiful Zirol Stuka, what a good day we had..

Thanks for the flight report, Sheriff. With the large, thick wing, I never doubted that it would be a good flying machine. It's always good to hear about another modeller's success. It instills much confidence. That's a very nice Stuka, too. No ground targets were safe at your flying site that day!

No problem at all. I now intend to get her completed, cockpit, gear doors, rockettes and paint masks plus the weathering.

I will keep an eye on your thread and if I can be of any further help in anyway, let me know,

Frank

You bet Frank, Thanks! Are you using the masks from Flightline Graphics? They are fantastic.

Nigel seems to be a very good bloke and has taken good care of me with my masks. He did warn me that it can take a while to produce the markings during the busy season. They are well worth waiting for. I was very impressed at how well the masks handle irregularities in the surface. The masks totally conformed to my panel lines and rivets. I used a toothpick and gently pressed the mask over the rivet and into the panel lines where required. The mask stuck tight and I had no paint leakage at all. I've painted my wing roundels so far and am looking forward to dressing up the fuselage soon.

Beautiful Frank, very crisp. I tend to use Warbirds paints for decals but I am currently struggling to obtain the correct colours here in the Uk, what paint have you used?

I am using Klass Kote epoxy. Not sure if you can get that in the UK. Stinky stuff that requires good ventilation.
