Looks Great Aero65! I'm Close, Just finished installing all my servos. I Still need to make the pushrods for the ailerons and flaps, secure the fuel tank, Balance, then wait for the snow to melt... It's been a looooong winter, and I'm (I'm sure I speak for all of us in the northeast) ready for some warmth and some stick time!!

Looking good Phil!
Please call me Duke, I cannot imagine that much snow yikes. We are cold here when it hits 72 lol, I know the mainlanders just laugh at us thin blood people in Hawaii.

Ah Duke...To feel 71 degrees again!! Oh well, soon enough. As I get older, I have less and less tolerance for this cold. Anyhoo, I do get a "building season"

Hey Duke! Can you take a pic of how you attached your gear door to you landing gear?

Thanks!

Hey Guys, Finally good weather and I'm almost ready to maiden. However, I'm having a bit of trouble balancing her. It looks like I'll need between 1lb 6 0z to 2 lbs to get it right on... Anyone need this much weight in theirs?

Sounds about right. We put our weight inside engine tube behind firewall then formed in place.

Hi Phil

I had to add a bunch of weight also, Sounds like about what I added, I made a tray above the engine and mounted there, to try and get it as forward as I could.
I had it mounted to the front of my cowl baffles but my cowl mounts were taking a beating from the weight acting on the cowl mounts.

Sorry on the very late reply on the strut mount I used these
#670DB 1/2" dia RoboStrut Gear Door Mounting Brackets

I turned them around backward using the flat side I drilled and taped for 4-40 screws and used flat head screws to attach the door. This works ok, but the get off alignment very easily, I also had to remake my doors using 3/32 ply backed up with some thin poly ply fiberglass sheet from Frank Tiano.

Thanks Duke, Thanks dmyers, And Thanks Chad V. I appreciate all the input I can get! When I balanced the Yellow Zero a few years back, I bondo'd lead weights around the inside of the front of the cowl rim. That seemed to work well. I'm going to try that again on the Raiden. I used hysol glue, but may reinforce with bondo

Ok Gents, she's ready! My balance point is approx 3/4"-7/8" back from where ESMs suggested. On the front side of the main wing spar. The maiden wont be for a few weeks as this and next weekend are events, and I won't/can't fly a maiden with a huge crowd around.

I appreciate all the help from you Guys and will report and post a vid on the (successful) maiden soon.

Looks good Phil, and good luck on the maiden. I'm getting close as well. Saburo showed up at my doorstep. He's a little on the small side but I'm still going to use him.

Got Saburo painted, and I'm waiting for him to fully dry to glue him in the cockpit of the Raiden!

Thanks Phil,

I got Saburo glued into the cockpit area. I also got the Raiden on her feet for the first time. Here's something interesting that I found out from a Japanese fellow RC pilot, their pronunciation of the word Raiden is "Rye-den"

Maiden a success! The G62 pulled her around with authority. No trim needed! She was very stable at slow speed, and I didn't use flaps. I do, however, want to re-balance her, and I think she was just a tad tail heavy! She got a lot of attention at the field, and looked great in the air. I dont think anyone got a vid, but pics are coming in. Thanks for all the help and advice here! I do appreciate it Gentlemen!
