RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Moto-x,
terribly sorry to hear about the accident. At least you're OK.
Yeah, insurance companies don't want to pay you for the full amount of the vehicle contents, much less the labour you spent on your planes. We have a guy who had a garage fire a month ago and is still arguing with the insurance company about the pricing, including labour, of the planes in his garage.
Take care.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
I have a question about building a sliding canopy? What is everyone using for the sliding mechanisum? How are you attaching it to the fuse and canopy? I am wanting to build one into an ESM50CC Spitfire.

Sliding Canopy +1. How do you do it? I need to solve for my Vally Hurricane as well.
I had this from an English build site by “Idigbo “

You are correct, I had to have assigned you as 121 because back on 8-23-12 you were posting on the thread signing as 121. Sorry for the confusion. I have corrected to roster and reassigned 108buzz as 122, and tobbe as 123.
Sorry for the mix-up

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Just FYI brothers, I've got nearly everyone's decals cut. Just have to finish up the brushed aluminum ones and they will be done. I apologize for the delays. I managed to screw up the sheet of blue decals which, of course, was the most popular color by far. That was all the blue vinyl I had on hand so I had to track down some more material and try again. Anyway, I will wrap them up over the weekend and they should be ready to ship early next week. Thanks gents!

Does anyone have experience with a Saito FG17? If so, what size three bladed prop are you using oryou would recommed for the Saito FG17? I am thinking about a 15X7 or a 14X7.

Vinyl decals are available directly from me Dennis at a cost of $1.50 each plus shipping. If you will scroll back a few pages I have posted images of what the decal looks like. They are approximately 5 inches across as designed but could be made smaller or larger with little effort. Currently I have light gray, white, aluminum, dark blue, and red vinyl on hand. If you want to order simply send me an email and we can work out the details.
Thanks!

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
A poem for my departed Spitfire:
My instructor once told me midair collisions are rare
But two years later, his plane hit my Spit in the air
My Spitfire was so sweet, she was my profile picture
But now she is gone and my soul cries for her
Douglas Bader’s initials were painted on her side
But it did not prevent her in midair to collide
Rest in peace my sweet Spit, as you fade in thin air
For I’ll crash more airplanes to console you up there.

Hi all
I'd love to join too!
I have a newly built "old" Kyosho 40 size Spitfire, running a YS63S. It is my second one to date and although there are newer Kyosho models of this aircraft, this one is my fave [8D]
Many Thanks, John.

Comp ARF Spitfire update:
I can’t remember how many times I installed and removed my powerplant from this airframe, or how much wood I have fabricated into parts I cannot use, but I think I have discovered my chosen method of installation.
Although very slow progress has been made with this and other projects, here is where I am at the moment.
I added a bulkhead that will retain a removable panel designed to block out the carb bay from the remainder of the fuselage. The additional bulkhead will also be tied to the 1/4 inch aircraft ply firewall to help carry the operational loads of the DA-85. I added fiberglass to the fuselage bond line in the forward sections because I get concerned when I can see light passing through an aircraft structures bond lines.
Well back to work on my Mach I Mustang, Ford that is

I feel your pain!!!
I got my new ignition and radio batteries in Monday, the new electronic switch should be here before the weekend. Then back to placing the 4.2 in the nose of this CJM Spitfire. Gonna be challanging. It had a Moki in it originally, then I put a G62 in it, but decided to go with a little more power so am putting a Sachs 4.2 in it.
Ill need a tail wheel retract next. Have siera mains in it. Going to be the Silver version.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Sept. 12 BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL SPITFIRE FLIGHTS PREEMPTED BY FASCIST ATTACKS ON WESTERN CIVILIZATION VALUES
The Spitfires performed perfectly in hot turbulent windy weather on air show day. The first show was performed by the venerable PZ Mk. II Spitfire. It demonstrated its capabilities to perform all of my favorite maneuvers except for an "F-15 like take off." My Spit Mk IX performed with it's usual overpowered capability when the irresistible urge to pour on the coal was used for extra zip
in vertical maneuvers. Usually, I throttle back in diving portions of maneuvers but on this day for the very first time in a power dive at close to full power dive speed - WOW - what a sound! Yes, on all future missions at least once per flight, preferably just after the F-15 like takeoff (straight up after a short period of level flight after lift off) I will have to power dive this Spitter.
I finally got landings down fairly well now. Good landing performance the last few missions including on the 12th with the Spitfire. Today I brought the HH Hawker Hurricane in for a nice full flaps landing for the very first time, as well as a fair half flap landing. I am now very happy with my "Battle of Britain" commemoration squadron.
Chad, did you receive my PM?
Out.

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
Chad, when I clicked on that URL I got a "Google Chrome virus page" that has been very hard to outmaneuver. So, looks like the enemy is continuing to use the old divide and conquer trick. May God bless the Spitfire Brotherhood for continuing to press the attack inspite of overwhelming odds. The fighter threads on Park Flyers & Backyard Flyers have virtually become little more than "my fighter diary."
