We are going with the stock wood, and still thinking of using monokote. When the time comes I may decide on fiberglass depending on what other projects I have going.
This kit does have the enlarged lighting holes in the tail section, so whenever this change was implemented would date this kit.
Anyone have an idea when the change was made?
I can tell you the wood looks great, however the friend I picked this kit up from stores his kits in his house or garage.
RPRCBuilder, who has built all of the TF 1/7 scale kits; except for the T-6, tells me this kit is lacking in instructions and clarification of the instructions.

RPRCBuilder is so right!!! The manual and instruction did not match what was on the plans. I found a lot of times what was on the plans did not match what was said in the manual. I went with what I saw on the plans. It sound like my kit came from the same lot as your, because I also have the enlarged lighting holes in the tail.
Please keep us updated on the build.

I have a question for the Spit aficionados, the structural "braces" over the wheel wells, are they authentic (were they placed during the war) or is it a structural weakness "fix" during the restoration process? I've been wondering about that every time I see those on a spit. Seems to be just on the early production models. Thanks

Hi Vasek, Great question and one that I have pondered myself, this is a response/answer to the same question from another website:
"They were fitted to the early wing, A or B armament, as a post-production modification. They are not often seen on front-line service aircraft, some of the LF aircraft excepted. The C wing and later aircraft had thicker skins in this area, but it remained a weakpoint on all Spitfires"

I just watch the vid and enjoy every bit of it. Thank you!!! Like the man said in the vid, the best way to see this bird is in the air. The best thing was to see some of the people who was around this bird back in the days, get to see it again and in the air where they saw it before. I love the fly-by at the end!!!

Grab that Yellow Aircraft Spitfire when you get the chance. That's one of the best flying 1/5 scale spitfires available. I built and have been flying mine since 2008. It's got the DA-50 up front, it's fast, and slows down nicely for the landings. It's one of my favorite showplanes.

On the Top Flite Spitfire, what is the general recommendation as to engines for this plane? What does everyone recommended? 2 or 4 stroke, gas? What size? I have a Magnum 91 4 stroke that I was thinking of using in it.

Now I am considering an OS 120 4 stroke, OS 91 4 stroke, or a YS110, which I have one of each.
I like the look of Sonny’s (jet22b) as seen in the photos below.

I am pondering how to get rivets onto the monokote.
I have tried my luck on a toasted p51 fuselage, that I bought in order to get
my hands on the Saito Fa100 for my spitfire.
I am using a variable temperature hot shoe welder, that is usualy used to
plastic weld bumpers with a plastic welding rod.
I have put a small philips screw head into the heating element and just press it onto
the monokote.
This is what it looks like.
Do you think that it will work?
I'll have to figure out the spacing and where the rivet/panel lines are going.
I would hate to mess up my beautiful Spit, but I have this idea again,
if you know what I mean.

Just waiting for the glass work to come in, and yes I went with the Robart 605HD. They just drop in with no major mod. Got a little side track with another build that is on the table at the same time. I am doing a build thread on the Seagull Cessna 336, ( the say a C-337, but no retract!! ). Back to the Spit build. If you can find a set of wheel well liner for the Top Flite AT-6 Texan, they will fit . I have to take some pictures tomorrow and show you. The may the bottom of the wing look good when the wheels are down!!

The pictures that #1 post of my Spit's has the Magnum 91 four stroke in the nose. See if you like that set-up. I think you will!!!

facia .. I really like that idea .. it looks good , and a great way of doing it .. You can vary the size of the rivet look also .. Jimm.... go with the 4-stroker ... it'll fly nice ..
