Default RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)

I am a little bit dissapointed at myself for not doing more research/checking.
I have received my century jet 1/7 british full pilot figure.
Hmmm....
Way too big.
I should have checked Tower Hobbies site for the measurements more closely.
I went with Century Jets measurement of 3.5" from head to seat.
Unfortunately not so. The figure I received is 5" from head to seat and 3" side to side.
Not going to be able to use it in my Hangar 9 Spitfire.
I have 4" from seat to canopy.
Century Jet offers a 1/9 size British WWII pilot firgure that may fit better.

On the other hand, now I may have a reason to get a 1/6 scale spit for next year.
I have the pilot already.
Any suggestions for a good spitfire kit in that size?

Andreas
Happy building and flying.

Hi WBG,
I am not sure, but that looks like T-shirt weather to me, from where I sit.
Food for thought.....
If I put on my Parka and sit in my freezer, it will be warmer in there
then it is outside right now.
Maybe them hot asteroids will warm things up a bit, eih?

Guys, if you need a few Spektrum receivers, please check my listing in RCGROUPS-Classifieds-Radio Equipment and search for "1 - AR7000 + 3 - AR6200 + 2- AR600 DSM2 RXRs" listing. Today it's on the 4rth page. My DX7 TX quit on me, so I managed to buy an Aurora 9 and am getting rid of my rxrs to get new ones. I still have the AR7000 & 2 AR6200s for sale. they are DSM2 not DSMX.

thanks.

I just purchased an aurora 9 also. sweet radio. Got 6 RX's with it. I had all futaba pcm radio stuff and it all still works, but, I wanted to join the "in" crowd and not be the only one at our field that still used the frequency board LOL.

Guys, looks like I will be going with a Yellow Spitfire. I have been contracted to build one for a friend and I figure build two side by side. I need to find a dealer for the purchase of mine....

Also, I understand one of the fellers here has a built up stab kit for the Yellow Spit, can someone dial me in? Also, what landing gear is the premium choice for this model?

Thanks for the help!

WarBirdGuy,
I was already in an "IN" crowd with 2.4ghz, but I was losing a plane a year to control loss. It was definitely not me, because the planes would just "keep on going" after I did a control input, or not respond, then respond then do some squirrely move and nose in. I know how to place antennas very well, but I do fly as far as 700 ft perpendicular to the runway to keep out of other's ways who fly closer to the runway. So... when my DX7 quit, I decided to move on to more channels and what I think will be a better system. You'll always get some situation where you'll lose a signal when flying fairly far out, especially since we're only about 2 miles away from a very busy small airplane / business jet airport (Van Nuys, CA).

Can't wait for it to arrive and check it out.

Happy flying. Merry XMAS

I hate it when that happens

You will love the aurora. Its a snap to set up your plane. I got most of planes set up with it and ready to go. Going in my CJM Spitfire also when I get back on it.

I think the only thing Im going upgrade on it is the TX battery, Im thinking of switching it to Lipo. Any of you brothers done that to yours? If so, got any links to who puts out the best conversion?

I hope you didnt loose any planes with your DX7, that would have sucked.

Hope you guys out there on the west coast survive tomorrow

If the world is still here after 9am central, Im going out to do some more xmas shopping LOL

Warbirdguy,
Fortunately, I was just going to reset some of my control throws on a plane at the house when it quit. But... I did lose the others in-flight as I posted.
I used a 3s lipo and it worked fine. I just started doing that a year and a half ago. You can also get a LIFE battery for your TX. They hold the charge at a level voltage longer. Great for your higher powered servo setups on airplanes, too. Your receiver shouldn't brown out when your usage is high like the Nicad, Nimh, and Lipo packs. Nothing wrong with Nimh either. I like those packs.

Hi Brothers

I use a Rhino lipo's in both of my JR 9303 and Spektrum DX7. I have been very happy with them and no failures, other than myself leaving the power switch on

#1,
RPRCBuilder is doing a great job on the Top Flite Spit build. Now I know he is a master builder! In picture #1, in the lower left corner of the picture is a old fold out ruler. I have not seen one of them in a very long time!!! I now have everything to glass the wings and fuse. Now to get some good weather so I can start. We went from rain to snow, back to rain, and that's just in the past 3 days!!![X(]

Wow!!! 155 Brother in the books!!! This plane is well love!!!

Hey Brothers,
For those who want more info on the HiTec Aurora system, the link below will take you to a site that will show you videos about this radio system.
Now this is a helicopter forum, but this is where I learn more about the Aurora after my DX7 die inflight while I was flying a 90 size helicopter.
