RPRC builder and I worked on the 1/7 TF Spitfire Saturday. We were able to trim, fit, and install the wing root fairings.

Warbirdrcer,
looks like RPRC'rs built is coming along just fine.
I envy the modellers that have their own model building room.
The "Man Cave" ...
For now I have to make due with a 4'x3' IKEA wood table and a little bit of space
set aside in the rumpus room beside the bar.
At least Captain Morgan is near by if I get frustrated on the build.

Good modeling RPRCer,
keep us up to date.

Andreas
Happy building and flying.

Can I join, please? I'm finishing my TF Spitfire, with a weight issue, unfortunately. See http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11369824/anchors_11371397/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm

But rain or shine, I will get it done!

Cheers,
Diego

Thanks to you, for pointing me to this thread! I'm so happy I've found this community! Argentina is a tough place for model making. So it's very valuable to become part of such an active community of builders from around the world. Thanks everyone for your help.

Welcome Bumble.bee78 and Diego,
nice to have you here.

I might have bitten off more than I can chew with the sliding canopy on my Hangar 9 Spitfire.
But...I said "A", now I have to say "B" and try to salvage what I can.
Or I'll have to buy a new canopy.

I used 2mmX2mm aluminum square tubing to make the rails. The rail slot went so, so but will pass.
It's my first time atempting anything like this.
Question was, what am I going to use as a slider?
I could not find anything small enough to fit into the inner space of the square tubing so
I used a 1/16" threaded ball link,
cut the ball off and soldered the threaded part onto a piece of HO scale rail.
It's so tiny that my tri-focals are being strained.
Will have to make at least 4 of these.

Andreas
Happy building and flying.

Why did you cut the ball link off? I have used the same set up utilizing the "ball" on the ball link as the sliding mechanizem. Just drill a round hole at the back end of the rail so you can slip the ball links into the rail and slide forward You may have to tweek due to location end of rail but it should work.

Just my two cents.

Warbirdguy,
That was my original idea and would have worked if I would have gotten a square tube with a bigger
inner area ie. 3mmx3mm . The round head of the 1/16" ball link was too big to fit into the inner dimensions of the 2mmX2mm square tube
and grinding it down to fit was really not an option.
This was the only thing I could come up with. The track slides inside the tube easy.
The threaded end will go through the canopy and the nut can tighten it to the canopy.
I'll post some more pics when it's all done and cleaned up.

I got it to work.
The canopy does slide a.o.k. and I am starting to
glue on some edging to clean off the cut canopy edges.

Jaoa68,
Your spit is :AWESOME"!!!
What is the wingspan???
What does the plain call for on the battery on this bird. If I was you, I would go for a gas motor in this bird, but, that's just me. Is your son in the hobby too??
We need more info. This bird is just "AWESOME"!!!!

Super big. Very nice with gun ports in the wings. Yes... I like it.
Sorry I can't help you with the electric engine size.
Are you sure you want to go electric on this bird?
Either way, it's going to look just great in the air.

You must be itching to get to the field just like I am.
The weather in Finland is probably about the same as here.
Swings from plus 7c to -25c in a matter of a couple days and
about 50cm to 1m of snow on the ground.
Flying probably won't happen here until March.

Keep us up to date with any mods you are making.

Andreas

I copy few text line from orginal thread. Orginal text you can find here:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5349526/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm

well back on spitty..
i started hammering panels to wingplug. i annealed first the litho plate, then hammered the rivets with sharpened tube. then glued with contact glue.
the leading edge of spitty wing is one of hardest to shape. coz of the double curvature and v shape of wing.
here pics...
