I added a higher definition version of the Seafire 17 drawing, a few posts back.
(The forum did not like a big image file, so I converted it to PDF)
Chad agreed that it should be OK to share it.

A couple of weeks ago a few of us from Phoenix went up to Flagstaff for the Beat the Heat fly in. We had a good time and I was lucky enough to have these shots of my H-9 Spit. As of this time she has 57 flights on her and is doing great.

Lifer, I have an E-flite 160 on 12S, at home in Phoenix I have a 16X12 on it, I can turn an 18X12 but it is essentially more drag and noise for not much more performance. In Flagstaff with the 7000 plus feet elevation I put on an 18X12. This worked very well and the combo made very good use of the thin air. With these setups I get a tad over 9000 RPM both speed and vertical are very good. Big loops are easy and normal loops (scale) do not need full power. I set my timer for 8 minutes and have had one 15 minute flight, this one pretty much drained the tanks

Cheers

For anyone in the Pacific Northwest area, this looks like a good time. I will be bringing my H9 60 size Spitfire.
Hope to see some brotherhood members there.

HI everyone, I just found this thread and I really enjoy seeing all the different sizes, shapes, and viewpoints. I recently came into possession of a dynaflite .40 size spitfire kit. Unfortunately, it is lacking the canopy. Would anyone have any thoughts on my being able to find something that would work? It looks like a great kit to build and I can't wait to get started.

I'm still looking for a set of Dave Platt/Pica plans for the smaller, 1/7 scale I think, Spitfire. Let me know if you have a set you would part with.

There used to be a company that advertised a lot on eBay, I don't recall the full name but USA was part of the name, they had and made canopies for all kinds of models. I can't give you more info than that but perhaps your research skills are far better than mine !! If you do find them please post the contact on here !!! Thanks

Mike.
mike i built one of those for a guy meny meny moons ago. it is a solid flyer, with the eppler (i think, its been a long time) airfoil it is a great trainer for landing warbirds. infact i have a dynaflite 60 size p-51d in the attac cause the monokote got to brittle to fly. but i used that plane to train atleast 7 warbird pilots on AOA and throttle landings.

anyway, tower bought all of marks models and i think they actually produced a great planes fun scale spitfire which was the plane u have with their name on it. check their site and see if you can find it they may still have some stock.

that kit started life as a Jemco Fun Scale, then was bought buy marks models so jim meister could finance is giant scale plans buisness, then marks models was bought by dynaflte, and then dynaflite by tower (the evil empire). also check fiberglass masters they now carry canopies. i hope one of those leads pans out for you.

building tip:
the landing gear anchor is drilled into the pine dihedral brace. that hole will elongate pretty quickly, i added a peace of 1/8 marine ply on top of the brace in the bay the anchor is in. the stock lg is much longer than the brace is thick in that area, stayed tight for the life of the plane.

Joe, thanks for helping out in my search. I'll check out the great planes site. I'll definitely modify the landing gear block-good idea.

Gary ,the bigger spits are sensitive when it
comes to landing what I found is keep the bird straight and level
and it will come in nice for ya don't let go of the elevator until it stops
try that my meister does the same thing
