I had a similar problem with my ESM Spitfire. What does your trim look like on your elevator? Also what is your full flap setting in degrees?

It appears Firepower RC sells manufactured kits and accessories etc. I am looking for someone who makes canopies from a mold I could produce. Thanks

BTW to those who are posting about the Spitfire being sensitive to pitch, those I know who have built and flown a Spitfire all say they are pitch sensitive. I don't know if you can design a model of a Spitfire that wouldn't be, but the full size was very pitch sensitive, would oscillate or porpoise from input on the stick very easily. I can attest to that as I have flown a real Spitfire and it was the case.

Sorry, I was trying only to validate the sensitive issue with the model in relation with the full size. A number of times I have read where someone made a statement but it was only from what they had read elsewhere. I'm not that good of a writer and would bore everyone and there is not much to tell of my flying one, but thanks for asking.

Hi guys I like to join the brotherhood .have read through the thread as I was building my hanger 9 30cc spitfire. Huge thanks to everyone here for all the info.thus is a fantastic resource .finally had a chance to maiden my spit yesterday was really a non event she flew supperb .

Had three flights this weekend all perfect .
my setup is eflite power 160 on 12s 5000 16/10 apc castle creations Phoenix 80 hv esc .I have installed the purpose designed retract oleo kit from eflite. A full depth cockpit with panel Control column and gunsight .warbird pilot uk pilot with servo operated head all up weight is 8.5kg and have had callie graphics do tge decals for raaf Grey nurse

hay Tevans55 sorry four taking so long to get back to you but I have been flying all weekend and my wife has been hogging the PC . anyway I get 80 degrees at full flaps but it dose not seam to make much difference how much I use so what use to be easy to me now becomes a challenge

I know the feeling...finally had to buy my own laptop to get any computer time. My wife is a teacher and she has homework every night!

I tried a lot of things to solve the same problem you are having and what solved it for me was slowly adding weight to the nose...a few ounces at a time until the plane would settle in to a desireable sink rate on landing approaches. It made the landings slightly more difficult at touch down because you have to be careful to stay on the elevator to prevent a nose over. The plane flies great now.

Oh brethren spitfire drivers... I need your input... I'm going to buy a TF GS Spitfire and wonder if anyone has had success put in a DLE85 and Sierra Retracts in it...

Is the cowl big enough to house that motor?
Will the Sierra 1/5 scale Spitfire retracts work?

Off topic.. is there any room for a additional 16oz tank up front and room for a Sullivan smoke pump?

Sparky the spitfire is a very narrow fuse design to begin with trying to house such a big engine is
going to be a shoe horn fit and thinking of only a16 oz tank you would only get a 10 min flight as far as a smoke system good luck
I have the meister spit witch is no small plane and it has a 45cc in it
and hauls it nice on 18 oz of gas for 17 min with no room for nothing like a smoke system I wanted to put one in mine so look at the room that is avalibile

thanks for your input, Six Guns! Most of the folks I've chatted with said to stick with a DLE55RA so it looks like I'll go that route... I was hoping that I'd be able to fit a additional tank for smoke oil and pump... Since I'm going to perform heresy and strip and paint captured colors I wanted smoke so I can "die" effectively in the gaggle with all the allied birds on the flightline...

I'm going to see if someone will let me peek in their Spit fuse to see if there's a place up front to hide a small saddle tank (Sullivan has a bunch of weirdly shaped tanks) OR I saw a video of someone who actually created his own custom shaped fuel cell... I wonder if I can do the same...

Sparky the spit is a pitch sensitive plane so you have to put all of the radio gear in front of the. cg
what you can do is get the plane built install the engine and every thing for the engine then look for a place
for the smoke system just rember that electric pumps interfear with the Rx so go with a mechanical set up
its not that it can't be done it just takes a lot of rethinking
I can post some pics of my meister radio set up if you want

Hi Guys,

My Pica Spitfire is ready after the Moki 180 to DLE55RA conversion and the general refurbishment back to flying condition. Weather permitting I will maiden it this Saturday.

It took a huge amount of work making all new cowlings and other replacement parts from fiberglass but it was well worth it.

It ended up at 24.9 lb with 3lb of led in the nose to balance at 5" from the leading edge. I raked the gear forward as much as possible and on a brief taxi test with full up elevator the tail bounces off the ground ever so easy. It will be a challenge to keep it from nosing over so am going to fit a 2 bladed prop for the maiden, the 3 blade will be broken in a second if it goes on its nose.

The DLE55RA is a great fit.

SixGuns- My spitty weighs 34lbs and has a 3W75 for power. Started out with a ZDZ80 but with the rotary intake on the ZDZ it was starving for air.

Flies really nice, very gentle.
