I'm using the Top Flite Spitfire ARF spinner on my 89" Hobby King Spitfire, I'm very happy with it, although it is slightly oversized, you can't tell.

I would like to join. I have an old Sterling Mark IX Spit 65" wingspan that I am thinking about building next. It appears to be very scale once I find a good cowling and landing gear. Anyone have experience on this kit? Also, I would like to join the brotherhood!

Build it as light as you can, (change out wood if you have to) add 2 degrees of washout to the wings, 1.5 degrees positive incidence to the horizontal stab. It's actually not that scale. Nose is way to long. Mine was without retracts as back in '75 or '76 when I built it retracts were unreliable and almost all were mechanical. Back then if you had retracts in a model and they worked consistently you were considered a god.

Cheers,

Looks awesome! Now tell us about the guy or gal doing the camera work, I wish I had someone that could do such a nice job filming at my field!

Hi
Yes we are lucky his name is Damo he is self taught and shoots hand held his ability to film zoomed in is astounding! You can see when he pulls back at the top of my loop I turn to just a speck. Damo is also a flyer flys turbines and large warbirds it's a shame the none of us are good enough to film the same quality for him!!!

Thanks Brad and Terry for the kind words if feel though that flying a Spitfire its easy to look good. Not to mention the fact that Damo is there to capture the action!

Hello, I googled Vantex and it did not show any Spitfires on their site. Could you give a link to show the model ?
Thanks

Hello again, I just found it, looks to be the same as the ESM models.

I have one of these Spits but I bought it from Hobby King when they were selling them. They take some work but they fly really well, mine has 130 flights on it.

Here is mine taken recently, I touched up the paint and weathered it lightly and cleared it with PPB flat clear. I can't say enough about how great it flies. I also have the stock retracts on mine and they work great.

Verbails,
I see a change in the color (Top side) of the camouflage using B of B colors instead of the Green Grey with Grey bottom side. Did you change this and put on your own markings ? I have just purchased an ESM Hurricane and am planning to change my paint and do a bit more detailing to it. I wished they would offer these in plain schemes then just leave the decals for you to choose the scheme you wanted rather than everyone look the same as everyone else who has one of these.
G'day

Hi Terry
Yes I repainted my Spitfire. This was the coarse of some discussion awhile back on another thread! I like the BOB brown and green so painted it that way some pointed out that Mk9s were not painted that way but one soul found a scheme the proved they did although not common! The rego is my sons name and the serial no my old radio frequency! Interesting that all the experts in my club have not picked up on this fact lol!!!! The colour matches were easy as I work at an airfield where warbird restoration happens so was able the steel real spitfire paint. (actually borrow small amounts!) I believe the you must like what you see or why bother and I did not want a scheme the everyone else had!

I'm gonna guess either Hanger 9, or a Top Flight Kit. Hard to tell, but must say it does look good what ever kit it is.

I would guess it's a Kyosho 90 with a modified canopy.
