Hi all,

I have not been on here in a while, but here are a few movies of my recent Spitfire projects. The Brian Taylor Mk 14 first flew in 1982 powered by a Webra Speed 61 but I installed an electric motor earlier this month and it is great to have it back airborne again. Hope you enjoy them.

Brothers, I still canīt decide if I should choose a paint scheme with invasion stripes or without them. What are your opinions? Thanks for any opinion or sample.

Stripes show up well in the air...but would not be correct for an early Mark aircraft.

Stripes are easy to see and Yes it is a scale paint scheme

I hate the stripes, they make warbirds look like toys. Most current restored Spits don't wear them, and there's a reason for that.

Prekin if you insist, you could do a 1/2 stripe scheme (bottom only) which is also scale

I agree with you. Planes with the stripes look like toys. 1/2 stripes schemes look much better, but SQNs 310, 312 and 313 had only full stripes or without. Other detail is design of the stripes. In the pictures is visible, that some of the stripes were painted by hand. Probably I will choose the one without stripes.
If the Spitfire will be hard to see in the air, I would add the stripes after some flights.

I don't like the stripes because war birds are supposed to be hard to see so they can sneak up on you and pounce!

D-day striped make it look like a street rod with guns.

I decided for the paint scheme without the stripes. The stripes I would add some day later if I would want them.
So she will get DU J (PL124) before the D day.
Thanks for your opinions.

I believe the stripes were both for identification and visibility. Ground troops knew who NOT to shoot at!

Youīre right Lifer. The reason of the invasion stripes was quick and easy identification because of ground troops. As same as red and white stripes on the bottom part of Germanīs fighters during defence of Berlin.

FYI the invasions strips on the top of the fuse and wings were soon removed after D Day. This is because they planes were now flying on the Continent and didn't want to be targets from the air.
The lower fuse and under wing stripes remained on until around Sept. if I remember correctly.

Some time ago I draw a vector picture of Spitfire. Now you can have it as a sticker on your car. Here are some samples. It is possible to have any plane you want. Available colours are silver, black and white.

Anybody here is flying some Spitfire with DLE 30? Just thinking which prop would be good for this engine and plane.

An 18x10 2-blade would be an option.

Hi all, I am just getting back into rc models after a 30 year gap playing with full scale airplanes. I have a domain linked to a web site that has a lot of information on Spitfires.
http://www.spitfire.org
I am currently researching large scale spitfire kits and ARFs trying to decide which one to build.

Regards,

Rick Pellicciotti

Hi all, finally Iīve done my last project. Itīs a combination of Segullīs 30cc Spitfire and my parts (cowl, chin scoop, spinner, exhaust stubs set and cannon blisters) which I make for Brian Taylorīs 83" Spitfire Mk.IX. She is still without the cannons, but Iīm working on the new pair.
Now I see, that the tail code and identificaiton stripe on tail are too large, but thatīs not too bad for the ARF kit.
Engine DLE 30, take-off weight 7500 g (16.5 pounds).Undercarriage covers I will add after maiden with new wheels.

Just maidened my Meister spitfire this morning. Flew like a dream! Little too tail
heavy so the first landing was quite exciting. Added 5 ounces to the nose. Second flight was much better but still tail heavy. Broke a strut on the second landing and ripped a cannon out of the wing. Nothing major but frustrating. Will add 4 more ounces or so and try again. https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/MOV_2586.MOV.mov

Great looking job Prekin. Especially liked the spinner, stacks, cannons and ALL the other parts also. Were you happy with the build quality of the Seagull airframe? Have also been looking at that Spitfire - did you make any extra parts? Again great job & enjoyed the pics.
