Another meister 47
Doug smiths meister 47 build inspired by Mirces build. I have started my new meister 47.
Never having built this size of a plane from scratch I have used the pics from mirce to start my new 47. Will keep you posted.
Thanks Dean... Doug

RE: Another meister 47
One of these I bought built but not painted or fitted. I finished it (Cherry Mary), flew it for years and lost it to a midair ( s##t happens). The second was an old Trillium version abandoned by it's owners and resurrected as the Junkyard Dog. This was lost to a brain glitch involving a radio setup (oh well, nobody's perfect). This new one I am building because I can't be without one (you'll find out Mirce). I am doing a condensed version because noone can beat the amount of info that Mirce includes in his thread. I am also out to show that anyone can build one of these ( even me!! )...............Doug

That's truth... Mine is far a way from finish, and I cant live without it... More time I spend in work shop than in house...

RE: Another meister 47
By the way, the 47 hanging above my build table is Dean's, built by his Dad, with which he won Top Gun many years ago. It is on our list of things to do to upgrade it, deal with some issues with it ( very old), and fly the crap out of it (Dean has promised he won't sell it !!! lol).........one day........Doug

Hey Doug and friends of the thread,
Just want to correct Doug's comment on my P-47 a little because if I didnt someone might be upset :-)
Dad and I built the P-47 back in 1994 for 1995 Top Gun. It was the first Meister P-47 or any Meister that I know of to ever compete in any Top Gun back then. However, it didnt win. I would love to have a win with my father but that never happeded before he passed away. It was the first model I ever competed with my father so it means the world to me. I would never sell it. It had a very good static score back then and would have been very competitive. However, too many issues with the CJM gear and the Seidel radial kept us grounded. One day we will take it down for a revamp. I am sure that my father would want to get it back in the air and watch over us some day. He built models to fly. So she is waiting for that "one day" to arrive once again.
I have had a few emails asking to see the photos of our 1994 build so I have decided to put them over on RC Scalebuilder for those who are interested.

Don't feel bad Doug I've crashed two! One just needed minor fuse repair but a whole new wing, and number two looked like it was at Hiroshima! Only the tail one flap and one aileron survived. They will be salvaged and go into number three I know first hand, the glass fuse will survive a lick alot better! good luck buddy looking forward to watching the build. Jeff

Thanks Bubs, thanks Jeff. Because Dean loves O.D. razorbacks, we're trying to find a silver bubble....lol. I have also been known to use "artistic license" to scheme some of my planes. We'll see. I'm with Mirce on the fuse, I like the wood. It's more forgiving to certain errors that occur in the flying, transporting process in my opinion. ( It's also cheaper.....lol) We have Shindin gear and Hitec servos. I am about to start the wing so I will keep you posted............Doug

We here at Meisterland SE apologise to Dean. We assume he has won everything.......right?.......We'll have to clean the thing up so he can win with it in the future. Bubs....we celebrate Warbird Alley every Wed. and Fri. night here. Fitting the tailwheel and the air and fuel tanks now. It's easy with Mirces pics.........Doug

Are you jealous of our Thunderbolts build? Don't worry, we know main players in Meister Scale, so we can arrange you some model with our connections, and you can join us in building...

RE: Another meister 47
Beginning to close up the fuse. Decided to build and fit the tailfeathers first. I'm using a non retracting tailwheel (after sacrifices to the " scale gods" ) because the retracting ones just don't treat me well. More pics to come.........Doug

Doug sure loves his P-47 kit. Hes so excited about how its coming together. The energy is high at the shop.
He is becoming a scaley... making sure his wing spars and joiner are going perfect. This is an important step that was missed on Rogerios wing.... we might have to make it a one piece wing because of this.... Keep it up Dougy!

RE: Another meister 47
I have learned a lot with this build. The more time you take doing the initial fitting, the less compromise you make later on. This translates to less weight. The use of the aliphatic glue means the sheeting seems to fit better, as you have plenty of time to adjust it. We fitted the wing to the fuse ( preliminary) and it measured perfect. So far, so good. However, I take that comment about becoming a scaley personally. This forum is no place for insults...........lol..........Doug
