RE: ROAD TRIPS 2012
WORKS club in Carlisle, Ohio.
First flight of the year (for me).
About 8 MPH crosswinds but nice and warm day.
All grass, full size plane runway.
Randy contacted the warbird guys for today and all had a good time.
Ziroli P-47 handled well on take offs and landings with the crosswind.
Been using full flaps on all landings, even on windy days, with more power, as the plane seems to handle better.
One pilot had a huge electric motor.

GCRCC at Trenton, Ohio
15 miles.
Again, strong crosswinds but it's good practice for rudder/throttle control.
Got three flights in on the Z P-47.
Got two with my buddy Joe's Vailly FW-190.
One flight, I just did the pattern to practice scale turns: a heavy warbird handles well in the wind.
Also, good to practice some warbird acrobatics.

GCRCC at Trenton, Ohio.
No wind, no clouds and a perfect day.
I was surprised by how many pilots showed up as there must of been 30 planes at the field.
Got 6 flights in.
Not that you can tell in the last picture, but a full size B-25 flew by from the local museum.

Toledo show
April 13.
175 miles
I had a great time.
Must of saw at least 30 fellow pilots that I fly with over the summer attending different flyins.
Lots of vendors with lots of great stuff (I know, I bought enough!).
1st picture:
Robart's Ziroli P-47 will be out shortly. They say they'll get about five each month once production starts.
Center display models:
Lots of great models on display.
Gary did a great job on detailing his F4U.
Paul's Fokker D7 is another great looking plane.

Toledo show (cont)
No slouch on buying, here's a picture of my booty!
The boxes are Dbalsa's cockpit kits for my Bates B-26 Marauder (this years project) and Ziroli 118" B-25 (next winter's project). Brian provides excellent kits and they are in, virtually, all of my planes.
Besides props (DA always has a good supply of Mejzlik props), I got epower's nice extension safety connectors, a nose wheel and UP-6 valve for the B-26 from Darrell, lots of 1.5" air cylinders for all the gear doors, a nice bomber pilot from CJM, some doors for my Ziroli F6F (one got damaged last year), 2-cycle oil, screws from microfastners and some cardboard wire extension tubes (which always seems hard to find).
I'm happy to announce that B&B specialty will stay in business after Dick passed away, last year.
I picked up G-62 slim carb extensions, mounts, mufflers and a few 32 oz square tanks.
Not shown are dropping off my comparf F4U wing folding mechanism with Mitch at Down-n-lock to have them converted.
Last is a picture of 'the old man': Eric from Robart took it since he says I never have any pictures of me in my threads!

Mirce,
I won't be at top gun as I don't have the 'skill sets' that you top modelers have.
You create planes with detail that is beyond my reach.
My planes are nice 'sport' airplane that I enjoy making: they please me for my trips to the flyins that I go to, each year.

RE: ROAD TRIPS 2012
To be honest, I'm coming on Top Gun just like visitor...
But I'm starting my new project, 1/5 scale model of Yugoslavia jet airplane Galeb G2.
Maybe, if everything be OK, at 2014 I will try to bring it on Top Gun... We will see...
More about G2, and other my models, on my website: www.nsmodelers.rs

Schedule updates:
I've added several more flyins.
I've never been to Evansville so it should be fun and the club looks like it has a nice runway.
I've got a three way conflict for the June 9th week end as Mac's flyin was added.
With friends at all three, when the date approaches, I'll wait until I see how the weather, etc is at each location. At 650 miles to Mac's place, I'll spend a full day just getting there.

15 miles.
A tribute to Del who built great WW I planes and a very nice person.
An excellent attendance with great weather: 70's, sunny and low winds.
I got 11 flights in. Did some great formation flying with my friend Ron and his Nosen P-51.

Getting ready for the 'season'.
PM Ziroli C-45:
Nice when you test the engines and no adjustments are needed: 2200/6700 rpms. The G-38 with stock mufflers sound nice on this twin.
Last season, a fire wall fell off after landing. I epoxied/screwed the defective fire wall but failed to do the other engines fire wall (old age, must of forgotten!).
One gear door hinge broke, pitot tubes were loose under the fuse and a loose kill switch.
This plane is 18 years old with about 200 flights on her.
This is probably the easiest twin to fly and land.

There's a good chance to see them: starting next week end until the middle of September, I only have two week ends where I won't be at a flyin (I love this time of year!).
I can only take a max of six to a flyin.
Still need to do more PM but this is what's flyable:

Ziroli SBD, Dauntless, GT-80
Ziroli F9F, Panther, Jetcat P-70
Ziroli P-61 Blackwidow, G-62's
Ziroli C-45 twin beechcraft, G-38's
