I just re-read the OP wants a mechanical set. I can't help with that.

But I'll post this anyways. A pneumatic set, very beefy...

If you don't want to fiddle with pneumatics, these guys can retro-fit a pneumatic set and make them electric...

"A LOT depends on your flying skills: if you are able to land an R/C plane in the manner that full scales land (as in: FLAIR, hold it level, let it settle on runway), you are much less likely to encounter retract problems."

There is a lot of wisdom and solid advice in this statement. Spend the summer doing touch-and-goes with a sport plane with weight added to it until it has the same wing loading as your warbird. Forget 3-point landings and focus on 2-pointers. It will be time well spent. Your retracts will thank you for it!

Respectful regards.

Hey revver 165,
can you give a bit more direction on how to find the 2 servo conversion?
Walt
I shouldn't give you this link so YOU can do the work and find it yourself.

I'd like to find a set of Robart air retracts for my H9 150 P47.I called Robart but they said they don't make them any more.[:'(]
Tom
I have the same plane and installed Sierra's made for this plane and they are perfect.
Very high grade. Way better than Robart.

On another note:
Seems to be a trend in America now days to let someone else work for it, but then again when you have a government supporting a movement that wants someone else to pay for it, it is to be expected.
It's called helping someone out and has nothing to do with doing the work for someone else. Really if you don't want to share then why are you on RCU? OP I have seen plenty of Robart rotating retracts for sale on Ebay as well as Century in the last couple of weeks, and they work very well if you don't slam your plane down on landing like so many guys do. I agree practice your landings with fixed gear and when you can grease it in, your ready. In my opinion a warbird just looks dumb with fixed gear. The problem I think is we buy arfs for so cheap that we don't want to spend as much on the accessories to finish the plane out properly.

Obviously you have an axe to grind but me thinks you do not know Mr. Walt Thyng very well. If you prefer not to help then just keep moving. Simple really.

Don't know anything about them except that they are for a .60 size P-40.

Cool retracts but a little further reading of his post and you would see that his primary concern is price. At $270 these don't qualify even close.

It would take a leap of faith to try something from a retailer who lists absolutely nothing about the product, absolutely nothing but the name. OK, the name and the price.

Which .60 size P40 for example? And the site doesn't seem to have a P40 for sale either.

Amazingly dumb of them.

They are listed as "VQ-GLB Retracts" so probably safe to assume they are designed for the VQ Models .60 size P-40.

I had some of those VQ retracts on a VQ 60 size P-40. They didn't get through the first takeoff on our grass strip. Just as the tail came up on takeoff the left wing went down, and nosed over and broke prop and the motor mount box. Turns out the plane had hit a rough spot in the field, (not all that rough) and the plastic case of the retract broke, allowing the strut to fold back. The struts had VQ oleos on them. Had to mount box and replace the prop. At Hobby People the retracts were out of stock. Plane was down for six months until the Lados arrived and I altered wing to fit them. I have some BH Models and new Hanger 9 retracts in the junk box. At least they have metal housings. If you want them I'll send them all to you for postage.

C'mon Rock go ahead and admit it's not politics, you just disagree with me. There was nothing political about my FACTUAL STATEMENT.

Just admit it's YOUR politics that are the problem here since I have stated NO POLITICS in any post.

Fact:
Seems to be a trend in America now days to let someone else work for it, but then again when you have a government supporting a movement that wants someone else to pay for it, it is to be expected.

There is nothing political about that, except for the fact you are taking a political position by deleting my post. It is a fact, not a political statement. If you don;t like it because you are a leftist too bad.

Bad attitude AND bad politics, all in same post. The mere fact that you are calling someone "leftist" is political. But then again, like most 'rightwing' statements: your assertions are vague and have no have no factual validity.

The "fix" for the H9 Corsair that does away with the OEM bent pushrods off one retract servo is in the ARF Forum. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7429324/tm.htm
