Default Attaching Gear Doors to Struts

I have a 1/6 scale plane with bare struts (no mounting brackets) I'd like to attach gear doors too. Looking for any ideas on how you may have done it - made some kind of attaching bracket? Thanks.

Some more information is in order. A few ways is silicone, epoxy, depending on the strut and plane and your flying field? Mainly if its tall grass you may want to forgo the whole thing. Dubro makes a plastic strap that you bolt to the gear cover, but to be honest you usually end up putting glue on them to help keep them from turning on you. Most of this all depends on the plane and how its going to get flown. Some pictures of the proposed install would be helpful. good luck

Here ya go. they need a bit of standoff from the gear, maybe about 1/2".

PS: the gear rotate, it's on a Hellcat

3/4 quarter of the way up the strut there is a brass thing. Could that be taken out and somthing else used there to make a braket of some sort? Some rod or something of the same circumferance placed through the strut and made u shapped might work as a standoff and then mounted directly to the mount at the top of the gear leg has been done before.

Take alook at the site listed:

They have door mounting brackets size 3/16 inch thru 5/8 inch

Robart make them too, but they can be difficult to find at times. I am using (coax) cable brackets from Radio Shack. VERY inexpensive, work great. I have them on my Top Flite P-47, pics and details in the 'Top Flite P-47 ARF build and mods' thread.

Here is the method used on my corsair. Glue/screw one edge of the pin hinge to the wing in front of the retract. Glue/screw the other part of the pin hinge to the gear door. Attach a spring to the upper part of the gear door and around the strut. The spring slides up and down on the strut as the gear operates. you may have to smooth off the middle of your gear for the spring to slide OK.

Works well enough for me.

I realize this discussion has gone beyond the DuBro landing gear brackets, bit in case somebody is reading this for insight I solved the rotating problem by tapping the brackets for 4/40 set screws. Add a flat spot with a couple of swipes on the gear leg with a Dremel or a file and you've got stable gear doors.

It would be close to the beginning, possibly within the first 10 pages.

It took me ten minutes of searching to find out that DuBro calls them "STRAPS".
