Default 1/5 J2M3 Raiden

After over two years of waiting I finally have parts to start my 1/5 J2M3 Raiden scratch build. The formers all interlock which will make the build almost foolproof. I framed up the horizontal stab the other morning and will post pictures. I'm also finishing up a Ziroli Zero that I'll be posting for sale and a Vaillancourt Sea Fury which will also be for sale. Stay tuned for progress and pictures.

Here is the framed up horizontal stab, took less than an hour. Started sheeting it today.

The stab comes with pre-cut blocks for Robart hinge points and the carbon fiber tube keeps it straight and light. I'm sheeting with 3/32 balsa sheet.

Tim,
is your Raiden based on a short kit?

Pippin,
This is a short kit that John aka "Lawndart" has designed. I originally had another designer do the CAD work, but too many things were wrong, so John took over. He did a 1/4 scale first and he's way ahead of me building his 1/5 scale version. The cowl plug has been done and hopefully the first cowls will be ready soon. We have to make a plug for the canopy too. Gene Barton did the main gear, not sure what we are going to do for a tailwheel yet, probably something from Robart that will have to be modified to look scale.
