scale pilot size
after seeing several questions and discussions about pilot size I made up a chart that I think might be useful.
<colgroup><col span="2" width="30" style="width: 23pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 1097" /><col width="54" style="width: 41pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 1974" /><col width="20" style="width: 15pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 731" /><col width="64" style="width: 48pt" /><col width="78" style="width: 59pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 2852" /><col span="8" width="64" style="width: 48pt" /></colgroup>
Sorry about the bottom line .I have no idea where that came from, probably a typo when I was setting up the chart.

RE: scale pilot size
Well that chart is nice but I think it's not entirely correct. I have a 1/5 scale TF mustang with finished cockpit and a 1/6 scale pilot of 12" tall is all that will fit in it and look right, thats with full dress chute and all. Others have said the same thing.Leroy

Actually, the chart IS entirely correct. Because the right size pilot doesn't fit in your plane doesn't make simple math wrong, it makes the plane wrong.

There are those trying to figure out what pilot to get that will fit and look right for what they have, I know, I all ready have been there. Thank you Leroy

Part of the problem is that your 1/5 scale TF Mustang is actually 1/5.25 scale. As the Mustang has a span of 37 feet (444 inches) a 1/5 scale Mustang would be 88.8 inches rather than the 84.5 inches of the TF bird. The TF airplane is not exactly precision scale either and that may also be a contributing factor.

Chad when I devided 37 ft. by 5 I get 7 ft. 4'' which makes this bird more scale than most of them out there. There is mothing wrong with my math.but lets not make a big issue out of it OK. Leroy

RE: scale pilot size
My first comment was baised on the scale of the plane versus the scale of a pilot that has some revelance to my comment that is all. I stand corrected on that and explained, end of story.
We are both right in the math department, yours was in inches mine was in feet and this is not going any further. Never intended to hurt feelings or rile anyone.Leroy
