WW II weekend this weekend Reading, Pa
Alright all you warbird fans, and military history buffs, this in my opinion is the best event ever if you love warbirds and military history. This weekend June 1,2, and 3rd is the 22nd annual WW II weekend in Reading,PA. If you live any where within 500 miles you should go to this event. There are thousands of reenactors and vehicles and aircraft of every kind. Check it out ! http://www.maam.org/maamwwii.html

The chance to meet and talk to some of the last of "The Greatest Generation" is perhaps one of the missed highlights of the event. In years past I focused more on the planes and equipment. Now I am trying to take time to meet, and thank those who gave so much.

I just went to a similar event in VA beach..it was incredible. Great aircraft, great re-enactors. Go to talk to a bunch of vets, one who flew both the corsair and hellcat and was happy to discuss the merits of both. Got some cool pictures also...

NICE! I have yet to see a Focke Wulf up close yet. and a Junkers also. Cool pictures. My sonis a German reenactor and will be at the Reading show, my mother inlaw is German and he inherited the whole blonde hair blue eyed look from her and my wife. When he's all dressed up it's kind of scary, in black and white photo's he looks like he could of come right off the front lines.

The CAF B-24 Ole 927 will not be there due to a nose gear collapse.
We are sorry to announce that the CAF B-24 "Ole' 927" suffered a nose gear collapse upon landing at the airshow in Charlotte this weekend. As a result the old girl is being ferried home to Texas for repairs and as a consequence will not appear at World War II Weekend. That's the bad news. The good news is that no one was hurt and she is repairable. Obviously this is beyond MAAM's control so please do not contact the office about this. Those who had reservations to fly aboard the B-24 will be contacted by the CAF as soon as possible.

Yeh, I saw that. What a shame, but glad thats all it was and not like the B-17 that burned last year. Looks like mother nature is not playing nice this wkend. The whole state is a blob of green with red and yellow spots. Forcast for tonight calls for up to 2 in of rainI feel bad for the reenactors having to camp in the rainAfter doing that for 3 years in the army I hate camping in the rain

overtime at work beckoned..... It was cool waking up to the thunder of "Yankee Lady" and her 4 radial engines. Nothing like a B-17 flying a few hundred feet above your house...

I live 20 mins from Reading , wondering if the turn out on planes was light this year ? I could not make it over but typically see a ton of planes in the air and this year I could not even tell there was an event . I assumed it could be wind direction ect but still unusual that we did not see any or hear any fly over our houses ?

I have been attending for a number of years and I also felt it was a bit light-all around. Some years are better than others and as you know, things can be affected by the weather and condition/availability of the planes (like the B-24). I was there on Sunday and a surprise rain storm cancelled some of the late day activities. I did not see a P-51 fly other than early in the morning as I was driving in. I was a little dissapointed but even during "off years" this remains a great show. I will be back next year. Hopefully they have the engines mounted on the P-61 and have a P-47, P-38 or Spit at the show.

I was there on Sunday and two P-51's and the P-40 flew late in the day around 5:30. It was a very slow moving show I guess due to the weather.

I stopped by for a few hours on Friday and just hung out on the other side of the fence. I had a nice view of the runway and taxi way. I got to see the B29, B17, B25, P51, Helldiver and what I think was a dauntless fly along with a DC3 I believe and a few PT19s. It started to rain so I left as I was on my way to Jersey from VA
