Warbirds with a gasser can vibrate quite a bit. I pretty much use Hitec 645MG or 625MGs for the primary flight controls. No idea how good the Tactic servos are.

Hi,

Has anyone tried the Hangar 9 tail unit on the TF Corsair?

I'm sure somebody must have tried this by now. I don't see any reason it could not be made to work in the TF airplane and I will certainly be looking into it when I build my TF bird. Assuming they are still available when that time comes! Maybe I should buy one now and put it on the shelf just in case.

I did see a post about someone using it on the big ESM F4U and liking it, just can't remember where the post was. That model is the same size as the Top Flite GS.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi,

I'm gonna start this build soon. I can't decide whether or not to strip and glass it, or just iron out this lousy covering, then paint the 3-tone scheme over the covering. I got out a wing and an xacto and almost started stripping. I figured that would take the indecision out of the equation, but I couldn't bring myself to do it yet. All that sanding and I'm still just skin and bones from last summer....

I too have struggled with this decision in the past.
The only time I have had success with painting over iron on covering was when I pretreated the balsa with Balsarite prior to covering the airframe.
Each time I have painted over plastic covering that I haven't put down myself (even with ironing it down)
I have been less than impressed when the plane gets placed outside in the sunshine a few times and starts to bubble.
It really makes for a disappointing look.
Now having said that, I have tried the John Redman approach with a light misting on flat clear Lusterkote over Ultracote with a degree of success.
I guess it can depend on how extensive the paint is on top of the covering.

Got one of these for xmas today!

Going with robart electric retracts.

Not sure on servos. Maybe futaba 3305s, maybe something stronger like 9157s. Maybe overkill in this plane, but i could use them in a future bigger plane.

Have a DA50, but thinking about an eme70 twin. Anyone know if it will fit??

Hi,

This question is for any of you who've installed the Earl Aune tail gear. Did you have to cut the the main tail former in half back there to get the tail gear unit to be able to go through its stroke? Looks like a lot of hacking.

@ Tony
So sorry to leave you hanging. I hope you got an answer by now elsewhere.
I had the stock muffler welded and its been fine ever since.

As for me I tried various props but the DLE 55 RA seems to like a 22x10 Xoar wood and carbon props. I used Top Flite Power Point, Zinger, and Xoar and noticed the best performance from two Xoar props.
What I liked was the prop kept the engine slighly loaded in dives at idle. The reeds stay slightly open and there is no hesitation just smooth power as throttle is applied.
I dont have a top speed number but my Corsair was faster than the TF FW 190 with the same engine.

Those are wire guides Stratotanker makes for remote antennas. If you want some PM me and I can help. Otherwise just use strip stock cut to length and drill a hole.

Does anyone have a set of the wheels that came with the Giant Scale Corsair ARF they want to get rid of? They are out of stock until late March. I need a set for another project and these wheels are just right. Thin and 4.5" diameter.ThanksJeff
