I'm using an EME 60 with an inverted pitts-style muffler. Mostly I have been using 10 inches of pitch on either 2 or 3 blade props.

Put telemetry on your plane. That's the best way to tell if what your doing makes a difference. Especially if you're looking for speed gains. Look at in flight RPM and GPS speed then try props to see what the best combo is for you.

Did a search and did not find this is issue. Did anyone have issues with their ailerons not deflecting fully down. Mine only deflects verrrrrrrrry little compared to the up deflection and compared to what I am used to seeing in ailerons on any plane. Seem like some extra wood is hitting. Might need to remove the monokote and flatten out the wood at and angle like the rest of the ailerons at the hinges. Will take a picture when I get home.

I didn't have that problem, something must be blocking movement.

Yeah this seem crazy. I am tempted to see if they would just send me another wing set and I send this back or just cut an angled relief in the aileron so that it works properly. Here are some pictures

Looks like the band saw slipped when they cut it.

Here are pictures of the throws. Left and right wing neutral/down/up. As you can see I have full movement on up but little if no movement on down. I know I will not be using full throw but the down movement is almost no movement. The left wing down is a little better but not to my liking.

Yep, Seems so. . If my wife sees me working on it to fix it or sending it back she will say, "See you should not have purchased it!"

Is the amount of throw sufficient to give the desired rate of roll? The amount of deflection shown is easily twice what I use. I like about 1.5 to 2 seconds for a full roll because it looks a lot more realistic. It's all a matter of preference, of course.

The UP deflection is wayyy more than is needed, the down is pretty much no deflection. I will be able to lower a wing but the opposite wing will not get any lift based on the amount of down deflection.

There are some advantages to aileron differential, and I have flown planes with basically no down aileron at all and they were fine. That being said, I'm sure Top Flite would send you a new set of outer panels if requested.

Yeah I read about the ail diff but no deflection at all I think could be dangerous and if I remember correctly Top Flite suggest a 1/4 less down deflection than up deflection. So they want a little ail diff in there.

That being said TowerHobbies is sending me a whole new wing!!! I love that place been using them since I got in the hobby.

Tower has always been good to me, but I always try to be respectful when asking for help. I spent some time in retail and a surprising number of people think yelling plus a bad attitude is the best approach.

No I do not do that. I worked at in Retail for 6 years and that is one reason why I stopped working retail. Managers would bend over backwards for people disrespecting and yelling but the nice people with problems, they would not. I did not agree with that and stopped working for that company.

Default Tower Hobbies

Don't mean to turn this thread into a Tower Hobbies thread, but I have to give them praise too, just today I got a order in. And I had ordered 3 glow plugs and one was missing from the package, after thoroughly looking though the package, I realize it was not there called them up and its on its way! They are a Hobby store 2nd to none!

Agreed!!! I try as much as I can to post good reviews for that very reason, people always want to tell you the bad.

On another note. I just purchased a set of electric retracts new for $405, mains and tailwheel. Might put them in my TF P-40 first since it needs them and is currently flyable and the corsair still needs the engine.

Well like I said I used epoxy for dummy engine and mounting ring, big mistake failed after just 4 flights, glad I noticed the bottom of the cowl vibrating on engine run up before 5th flight. Other than that the maiden and following flights went great, retracts worked great, plane tracs like its on rails, only trim needed was 2 clicks up EL and flaps are very effective , so I am a happy boy , and now onto the silicone like the manual says

Great info guys. I"m hoping Santa brings mine this year. That being said, I'm definitely interested if you still have the electric Robarts still. Please email me at [email protected] and let me know what you're asking. Thanks, Bob

A replacement cowl from anybody unless specifically designed for that engine and the TF Corsair will not work without modification.
I had to use a H9 cowl and modify it to cover the engine and adapt to the fuse. I set the cowl flaps open 10deg to hide the big diameter difference. It's not my best work but it's ok. I made a custom engine mount and firewall system that allows me to pull the engine, tank and servo off the front all in one. The engine has been set to have zero/zero thrust compensation and it flies great.
Both the FG84 & 90 are the same outside dimension.
Also the TF / Monokote paint is not a match for the covering!! I used Tamiya lacquer Navy Blue for mine which is darker as a substitute and it's semi flat. If you can mix your own paint or paint the whole plane with something that will bite the covering then you will have a decent finish.
I should go back and paint odd parts to make it blend in as if the parts are from another plane or something.

Questions on DLE 55 vs 61 balance. I searched and seemed one guy had to add 14 oz to the noes to balance and another guy had to move things as far forward to balance with the DLE 55. I am thinking the DLE 61 will probably balance perfect with everything in factory locations. Anyone have feedback on 61 balance? Did not find any info by quick searching but will keep looking.

You'll just have to put the DLE 61 on and see how it is. Possible you'll still need to add some nose weight.

Bob I am going to call you Big Money ...that would be great for me being first of a few people building this plane but I think that is wasteful of useful resources across the net that probably have used a DLE 61 and can provide feedback instead of just buying the engine to see if it will work and adjusting as needed.

What I might do is take my DLE 55 and add weight to it that equals the DLE 61 weight. Balance and see how it is. This is only if I can not find anyone that has not already used a DLE 61 with items in the factory location.

I am assuming that you think I already have the DLE 61 based on your response, if not then yeah you are Big Money

EME 60 needed 2 pounds of shot and epoxy. I did not install any gear doors, so I didn't need to compensate for them. All batteries are as far forward as I could get them.

The DLE61 is bout 9ths of a pound heavier than the DLE55 from what I can tell.
So thats why I said you may still need to add nose weight.
I have the Saito FG60 with the Keleo exhaust ring. I put the ignition and its batteries toward the front but not in front of the wing.
With that engine it ballances fine.
