The EME70 is a sweet engine. Bought mine from Milehigh with starter installed. Installed on 96 inch AMR-RC stick to replace DLE50. Ran perfect out of box. Very smooth with great throttle transition. Running 24/10 Zoar. Installing second on a TBM 92 inch Zero to replace ZDZ80.

good to hear positive things about the eme 70cc twin. I would like to swing a 23x10 3 blade from tbm for my 190. does a 2200mah 3 cell work for the starter or what do you use? also I see the ring gear and starter are on the back of the motor it looks like the stand offs should give enough clearance though.

I checked out the Demon Cortex gyro and even called DreamWorks.

It didn't sound like something I would want as the instructions and the person told me I would not want it on hold for landing.
I don't know about take offs. Sounds like a 3-D type thing to me. you whip your plane up for a harrier...flip on hold and watch.
Not into that stuff anymore.

...which begs the question for 3D flying - isn't it meant to be all about Pilot control and not the electronics doing all the work?

Not having a go at electronic stabilization as such - it sure has its uses in things like Warbirds, big jets etc.

But for all that whirly trwirly 3D-specific stuff, I would have thought the marvel of all those manoeuvres was that the Pilot was controlling them... (??)

I have iceman 3axis gyros in my Top Flite Gaint Fw190, P51,P40 and F15 turbine

Its nice makes you less worried about the weather and helps with take of and landings. It helps a lot but you still have to fly her like the big war birds they are

Thanks Mike....yes with any gyro a person has to help out a little on take offs and landing...which works for me.
I think the jet guys use heading hold on take offs...but they can't touch any thing or the plane goes crazy?? Just what I read.

Here are some other choices from Chief Hobbies....I think I will stick with my cheap JR gyros on rudder only.

I use a 3S-1300mah and it last several starts, enough for a full day with plenty to spare. Standard engine stand offs are same as used on non starter version and need some spacers to allow gear bolt head clearance, about 3/16".
FYI: I read a post where a guy was told to use 2S because his switch would not work on 3S. I have never experianced this.

It will fit using a da70. But there's a max of 1/4" clearance at each spark plug. I'm pretty sure you'll need a 1.0"x0.5" hole on each side for the spark cap.

Maybe see if the dle60 twin is smaller?

hey guys.. I know you guys are pretty amazing but I gotta tell you.. The DLE55RA really does pull this airplane around with authority... I'll admit the twins are pretty awesome but, wow, is that a lot of work!

I love my TF GS FW190.. absolutely my favorite plane in the hangar... I love the way it looks, the way it flies, and landing clean on the mains gets me "sprung"...

I'm working on my 1/4 scale Clark Spitfire now and it's DA inline 100 twin... wow. what a motor... I think my next build will be a Meister with this motor if I can figure out the exhaust.

the motors from MileHighRC are really high quality I like the sound of the 70cc (especially with the starter). okay.. I gotta setup to go fly tomorrow! it's the weekend brethren.. let's take to the skies!

thanks for checking bear, I was hoping not to hole the cowl. I wonder if there is any shorter boot that could be used without making r/f problems for the receiver? I tried a different plug boot on a model once and upon preflight when the engine was revved up the control surfaces would freak out and twitch like crazy. it was with spektrum 2.4. I switched the plug boot back and problem gone. I also had the same problem with an optical kill switch with the same receiver an ar7000. removed the OKS and problem gone.
it sounds like I might just go with the eme 60cc single W electric start is suppose to have the same dimensions as the dle 55 and @ 6.2 hp it will still swing a 22x10 3 blade.
but the twin would be so smooth!!! but the saito R3 84cc would sound SOOO cool! but the evo 777 radial glow would be SOOO cool! and....slimy. trying to keep it simple but Cool.

Bearbow, I am not trying to start an argument here, but my measurements are as follows

FW-190 Cowl is 272mm diameter or 10 3/4 inch diameter.
Engine with spark plug caps installed is 250mm wide or 9 7/8 inch wide.
Total clearance remaining is 22mm or 7/8 inch.
Divided by 2 for each plug cap = 11mm clearance for each plug cap or 7/16 inch clearance from inside of cowl.

You will not need to cut any holes in the cowl for spark plug cap clearance since 7/16" is more then the 1/4" max required

Roger

it seems like the eme 70 twin will fit from what I have measured as well. both the eme 60 single and the 70cc twin are out of stock right now so I figure I will wait till they come in and get the word from mile high as to how the 70cc twin fits their TF fw190.

Good day Zadeda, I agree with spaceworm, thank-you very much for posting. The two photos you posted of the JC 60 twin has almost the same foot print as the EME 70 twin. The JC 60 is another twin engine one could choose to fit the FW-190 cowl..!!

BearBow, unfortunately the DLE 60 is 274mm wide, larger than the 272mm cowl on the FW-190.

Well fellows I maden my FW190 today.

All I can say is wow. Some of you guys had me really worried about this one, even though I have a Top Flite Gaint P40, P51, P47 and the fw190

It took off gently and was very smooth. Used less rudder control than the p40 needes

I have to say those electric robarts look really nice going up on takeoff. I see why you guys like them so

I got 3 flights in and each landing was better than the last.

I was worried about the long gear but just kept the tail up as long as I could. Trust me my GeeBeeR3 is a lot harder to land than this gaint

Udlennite a platform also transfer accumulators forward. Machine guns need to be lowered a little in a bottom. The pilot needs to be put above. It will reduce the mass of freight. Excuse for my English! I use online translation. Not always it turns out correctly.
