The zero pilot was fine.....it was the heli guy that was in the wrong. He should know better then fly it in the traffic pattern like that. At our field, helix aren't allowed in the normal plane traffic area if any planes are in the air. We have two separate heli pads for them away from the normal flight line.

We have the same rules as kahloq's field. The heli's must either be moving, or on the ground. Stationary over a flying field is like parking a car in the middle of an interstate highway.

I had the same Zero once. I abused it terribly but it was a good flyer. Sorry about the pointless destruction.

Easy to place blame when you weren't there LOL. If you watched the video, the heli was inverted at an angle, it was not stationary... Its all about spotters. Helis and planes can coexist with a little communication. The zero owner has two helis in his signature, it could have just as easily been his heli hitting another plane. Midairs happen, we love to talk about them, place blame, watch the carnage... but they can be avoided with communication. You could just as easily blame the zero owner for doing low flybys when there was a heli on the field... What is weird, if you tried to mid-air two planes, it would be challenging.

At our field, helis are required to fly pattern when flying with planes. This guy was just doing tumbles and rolls even after being warned several times by me and others to fly pattern. I fly helis as well and I always fly pattern when planes are present. I clearly feel he was at fault. Others may feel differently!

Again, I had spotters next to me. The Heli being so small was missed by both spotters.

I am told that right prior to my accident, someone yelled dead stick and the same Heli pilot ignored the call, ran out and placed his Heli on the runway and took off, narrowly missing the dead stick plane. The guy is just an arrogant and inconsiderate pilot.

Then he should get booted. Not cool if he has a record of that type of behavior! I rescind my original impartial peace making statement![>:]
Here's some more wulf pics to get the topic back on track.

I love this gray speckle paint stuff. It has over taken the fake carbon fiber as my favorite interior. Painting this cowl was a PIA! It was really hard to strip/sand the eagle off, and I am a horrible painter. Love the look though! I painted two of the spinners, one for a two, the other three blade. The three blade turned out better, and looks cooler on the plane

Sharam:

I hope this is the last comment on the Zero. Many years ago I belonged to your club and at that time there was recourse in dealing with idiots.
Management usually pulled them of to the side and warnings were given. If not heeded, the idiot's membership and flying privileges were pulled.Won't bring your plane back but it might prevent future mishaps.

Cheers,

Totally jealous of you guys and your TF 190's.

Best I can do so far is about AU$1,000 (3 month wait) or $1,200 with a week or two's wait.

Still shopping around, but I won't hold my breath - nothing really "cheap" down here... [&:]

Question for those have that flown her, how did you like the posted CG, and did you find the need to mix any elevator with flap deployment? I had a smaller FW that would balloon quite a bit with the split flaps.

Really nice work being done here, I will post some pics of mine soon, she's all done, waiting to be balanced - and waiting for the 2 feet of snow we just go to melt ;-(

Thanks in advance

FWIW, I read a few posts back (did not read all 56 pages) that there we some questions about painting over the monokote. I scuffed it with scotch bright and painted over it with an airbrush and arcylic, then flat clear Lusterkote, pretty happy with the outcome. Used some of John Redman's techniques on the H9 P-47 build to weather it and came out pretty nice. Not as advanced as some folks here (beautiful work, BTW) but I am happy with it.

Now I am just waiting for the white stuff to go away!

Cheers

CV580

For me, the recommended CGis fine.

I did mix in some down elevator to flaps and thatwas absolutely necessary.

You may also want to increase the recommended elevator THROW. 5/8" up and down isn't enough.

Longer servo arms will help here.

Pettit were did you end up with elevator. Most of my war birds I go with recommended down throw and add 3/8 up with expo for grass runways. What did u mix the elevator to flaps at I was starting with 4%.

On my Futaba 8U transmitter, I thinkit wound up with about 6% or so. You gotta experiment to get it where you want it

Looking forward to seeing one in Oz if you finally manage to get one BJ.

I am an Anton fan myself, but I have to say with plenty of first hand experience that eventually the Dora's begin to grow on you because let's face it. It's still an Fw-190 and the ESM one is fantastic!

Thanks

I had no problem with the recommended cg. Throws in the manual were just fine. I did not need any elevator adjustment with the use of flaps.

10/4 thanks for the info as to mixing the flaps I am assuming you must bleed of airspeed before flaps and that's why you need no mixing yes ?

Thank you guys for the info, I think that was about the same % amount that I used on my older (smaller) FW.

Pettit - Curious to know what type of elevator throws you ended up with. Just looking at it I thought 5/8" was a little light. We fly solely off grass (when the snow melts).

Thanks for all the input, I'll post some pics as soon as I get the canopy mounted, I cracked it slightly trying to get that forward access compartment off and on (pretty tight) while I had it taped in place.

The Book says 5/8" up and down on low rate and 7/8" up and down on high rate. That's where I set them.

And the 7/8" is still not enough in a pinch, like landing and flaring

I'll be posting mine in the classifieds today or tomorrow... I'm getting some cash together to buy a Robart/Ziroli P-47. I'm selling the airframe and electric retracts (mains) with no electronics for $1,000. Local pickup only... model is fully assembled but not flown. I set mine up for electric poser (Hacker A-80).

PM me if interested...
