OK,
I've been buying TF models since the late fifties (control line) and have always been treated well.
Guess that will mean more of their planes for the rest of us

If you're referring to Motor12's pilot, thanks. It's an Aces of Iron product. It comes unpainted. My wife painted this guy (Gunther) by following the basic instructions on the Aces of Iron site.

I used Futaba 3305's and S9153's on the flaps.
Those flaps hanging down on final will kill a lesser servo I have found. Need servo torque.

Folks, I have received the Robart Pneumatic version of the main gear.

They are supposed to be mounted using 6 screws on each. Unfortunately I cannot find these screws now, so I need to order them from my favourite nuts and bolts supplier.

So, could anyone please tell me what the inch-dimension is on these screws?

Please ? It would help me a lot, since we are normally using metric stuff on a daily basis.

Gyro on the Rudder/Tail Wheel; I use them on all my tail dragging Warbirds, work great, eliminates ground looping, do a search on RCU Airplane Gyro, Rudder Gyro, etc; tons of info.

Loving it Steve!! I sold mine but I plan to do another here soon. I figured a real sweet way of making the canopy slide pneumatic and I made templates for the main Sierra gear. Installing a G62, sierra gear and a few modifications. Not too complicated.

Going with this scheme..

On my TF P40 and P47 they were packed with the included hardware. It is listed as a #6 screw. Be sure to use the 1/2 inch long screw directly over the air cylinder. The other 5 are 3/4 inch long

Yes, but I cannot order screws , unless I know the dimension.

The length is of no interest. I can measure that. But thanks for the heads up on the one above the cylinder.

Do you know the dimension? In that case could you please tell me?

I don't know what #6 means. I do understand 4-40, or 2-56. Or 5/32, or 1/4, and so on.

My guess is that it is 4-40 ?

Here is where I normally order nuts and bolts, but it isnt easy for us mm-guys ;

http://www.modelfixings.co.uk/unf_cap_screws.htm

10-32, 0-80, 4-48 .....makes my head spin....( no 4-40....)

I don't have any inch screws in my inventory, so I can check. Plenty of mm screws, but no inch stuff.

I found the answer in the place I allways check last. In the manual; The dimension is 6-32 x 3/4"

If the 109 is anything like the TF P51 or the TF P47, then the should be sheet metal screws. They both use #6 sheet metal screws. Here's a link. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXK009&P=7 to #6x3/4.

That makes me worried. Manuals aren't allways correct......

There are blind nuts on the Fw-190 for the gear. Is it blind nuts on the TF-P-51 and P-47 too ?

Or perhaps just wood'en holes?

If they have blind nuts too, then I'd better order those #6 screws too, just to be sure.

But the #6 screws looks like they are supposed to be used for wood? It really is a good idea.

Use them first, until you rip them out, then go for inserts.

I don't use the majority of the hardware these ARF's come with. Most of the time it's cheap, so it's best to play it safe and do it right the first time.. I definitely go with blind nuts. JMO. On my meister FW190, the gears mounting holes were enlarged to fit small nylon bolts with blind nuts so if the gear rip out, the mounts won't go with them.

A fellow modeler maidened his TF Fw190 this past Sunday. He completely refinished it with a lot of detail and weathering, it looks great and flew perfectly with a DLE-55.
