My Top Flite Fw-190 is still alive and well.

Here we have fun on the ice this sunday;

When it has been on idle for a while it suddenly runs on just one cylinder.

It's because I give it a bit too much petrol ( Adjusted since it is winther....)

Just have to remember to rev it up before takeoff!!

Hey guys,
I've got mine almost ready to maiden, however, I had a question that I was wondering if anyone could help with. I am running the Robart electric mains, and the mechanical tail wheel. Anyone that is running that setup, how do you have them wired up on the receiver? In other words, are they Y'd off of the gear channel, or running on separate channels? Thanks!

And here's a pic of mine.....

I have that set up and run separate channels for the tail retract and the mains. also I run it off the receiver battery which is a LIFE 3200. I have been flying the plane this way for more than 2 years without trouble. I use a servo slower on the mechanical retract to give a similar timing to the mains. I also have the tail wheel steering on its own channel so that I can trim it different than the rudder. So one channel for mains, one for tail retract, one for steering. Work great

That's how I have mine right now, the tail on a separate channel, slaved to the mains, however, I'm running an 8 channel receiver, and just realized today, that i am a channel short, and need a spot for my opti switch, so I was trying to figure out a way around another receiver.

you could y the gear channel and send it to the tail retract. however the separate channel for steering is a tough one because you need the tail wheel to stop steering while it retracts.

Yeah, the reason that I didn't do that initially, is that the tail servo has to have travel limited, and I wasn't sure how that would affect main gear function, if at all. May have try it though. On steering, I've y'd it with the rudder. When the tail retracts, there is enough slack in the wires, that the wheel barely turns. I guess it's either try it split with the mains, or take the choke out and make it manual, and use the switch there.

Use one of the other channels and a Y for your battery connection. The receiver doesn't know the difference which port receives power.

It already is. One is on the bind port and the other is split with the flaps.

Put in a Matchbox from Hitec, or an MSA-10 from Futaba on the rudder channel.

Then you can adjust the travel on the rudder and tail wheel independently, and you have freed one channel.

Do the same on the retract channel. Then you can adjust the retract servos for mains and tailwheel independently. Another channel free.

Have you flown the plane with the shortened gear doors? Just wondering how they are working. I like this fix much better than splitting the doors. I think it still looks good and a really good option.

Thanks,
Tony

Tony; I have not flown it yet, the FW has been on the backburner for awhile, I only have the wing finished, the mod should work because when I compress the Oleo there is still plenty of door clearance to the ground.

i can. as I understand this 70cc twin has the same mounting pattern as the dle/eme 55-60 cc single. it will be a week or two before I am @ the point of installing the engine as am just starting the build but I will share the adventure =D

The engine usually is offset to the left to compensate for the right thrust built into the firewall. If the engine is a tight fit in the cowl, it will not be completely enclosed as the picture would lead one to believe.

Appreciate posting Mike's Pictures of the EME 70, when you get yours and get mounting it, I echo SWORDSN, share your EME 70 Adventure, I have a DLE55 NIB I was going to put in my FW but if the EME 70 is a winner, I will just have to find another plane for the 55 to go into, can't have a good engine sitting idle on the shelf for too long, I see anotrher build in my future.
