I have the same setup. I needed 120g of weight next to the tail wheel. Flies dead straight.

the fg 84 sounds great and looks like it flys the FW very well Kwik. thanks for the tail weight info Reverend.
I am working on cowl mods for the EME 70cc twin adventure.
6 inches of snow and cold wet weather is giving me a good excuse to stay inside and work on it.

I dont know, but something tells me the combination of TF's 190 and the FG-84 must be one of the best ARF combinations you can get nowadays.
Kwik, thankyou for sharing the video, the FG-84 sounds awesome with the keleo muffler. I recommend you tell your friend who owns the TF FW190 that he should shorten the length of the Keleo exhaust pipe that protrudes below the engine cowl. If left at the length that it appears in the video, the exhaust pipe will be the first component on the FW190 to strike the ground if your friend is forced to do a wheels up landing. The exhaust pipe striking the ground first will possibly rip the FG-84 from it's firewall mounting! I have seen this happen several times on different aircraft where the exhaust pipes were hanging to far below the engine cowl.

Anyone using a DLE-55Ra, and if so, what kind of nose weight did you have to add, if any? Thanks

Thanks for the info. Mine was slightly tail heavy, not by much, maidened it that way actually, but I've since added a few ounces to the nose to get it in range. I was just curious about others experiences. It flew pretty good considering, right until I started having motor problems, which actually turned out to be a bad throttle servo. I think I have everything sorted out for a re-maiden this weekend.

Make sure it isn't RF generated by a bad spark plug... I have to replace my plugs every 50 flights due to weird servo chatter that begins to occur...

Thanks, I will, but fairly certain it was the servo. The throttle and choke were the only servos that I re-used from my Weeks when it got updated, and while it had an issue with one, I was fairly certain that i had it narrowed down to the extension being the issue, not the servo. Guess that was incorrect, but thats the reason that only those two controls got used servos On them. Anyway, replaced it and cut the lead this time. I've since ran it for about 10-15 minutes and the issue is gone. Should be good to go.

Been working on mine most of the winter here. Standard build with air retracts and DLE-55. This will be my first plane of this size but looking forward to getting her finished up. Still have to put in the tail retract, but was anxious to put a coat of paint on before spring.

I am doing a variant of Yellow 17 for my FW.

Hello friends, I am assembling my FW, I am testing the electric retracts and when I raise the right retract the Wheel is just touching at the front of the wheel hole in the win . What should I do, file the 6 retract to next drill bit that will pass the actual holes, in that manner I can move the retract back before adjusting the screws. The one in the left wing works perfect.
Regards
Erwin

Hello Erwin.I had the same issue on my P47.I drilled out the screw holes and filled them with a 1/4inch dowels and then started over. This worked for me.Hope that helps.

I had two good flights, for the most part, this weekend. I say for the most part, because on flight number two, the right retract did not retract all the way up. I tried cycling it a few times in the air with the same result. It did however lower and lock back fine for another perfect landing. So, After getting home, I pulled the cover and see what appears to be a broken piece on the retract mechanism. Not sure how that could have happened (must have been a defect), because like I say, my three landings so far, were perfect. Oh well, sent it off to Robart, since it should be covered. Besides that though, two great flights with little trim added, for a total of three, and as I said, with three perfect landings. I can already tell this is a great flying plane and I am going to enjoy it very much.

Just loosen up that clamping bolt on top of the leg, and slide the leg abit up. Maybe 0.5 cm. Tighten the clamping bolt again and you are fine.

It is close to where they are 90 degrees angled into the mechanism.

Ok, thank you Jason and Kwik,
This clamping bolt on top of the retract leg isthe way to make the wheel s to tip out about 2 degrees for better tracking??
I will install a DLE 61 cc, what prop will make itfaster 22 x 12 or 23x 10 wood type like Xoar.
Best regards
Erwin

The DLE55 will make this plane plenty fast with a 22X10 Xoar prop... The guys who race giant scale at my flight line use APC 20X15 T6 racing props in Zenoah G62's... For me it's too fast for this bird... Stick with the Xoar 22X10 (will wind the motor out more) or a 24X10 for 6700RPM...

Thanks for the link. Now I have another to sit and listen to as I sift through the thread for info. Couldn't agree more with the TF/FG84 combo being a sweet setup. I love my 84 in the Corsair. With yesterdays price drop on the 84 at HH I pulled the trigger on my second to go in the 190. Have to go back and see if anyone figured out the fix for the electric retracts now while I wait for the engine to ship.

That's what I'm running, Xoar 22x10 CF, and it's still a little rich for break in.

FW190 brethren... After 321 flights total and over 200 flights on a replacement wing, the TF GS FW190 wing has finally had it... I noticed several new "cracks" in the leading edge, lower center board, and root after a weekend of flying at the OEAF Spring Scale Fly-in last weekend...

I ended up peeling the wing and found that the sheeting is lifting from all the glue joints, top and bottom, and that the ribs in the root are very soft now... It's going to require a serious rebuild.

Luckily I had a spare wing from TowerHobbies (I love the scratch and dent section) and have transplanted the gear and servos to the new wing. I had to fabricate the joiner and alignment niblets but all is good!

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to buy the decal sheet or paint the crosses on the wing... hmmm... what to do? what to do???

Order new crosses from Callie Graphics. They will look better than the Top flite ones, be higher quality vinyl, and cost less. Drop her a line, I'm sure she'll kit up the crosses only if you like.

I used Callie Graphics on both 190 ARF's I built. You can even chose the style of cross. Note that the later model A-6 (white tail) would have different crosses than the earlier model A-4 (yellow tail).
