Hey Roger: The white tubes on the Muffler either side of the plug lead I take it are the exhaust stacks. Being so short don't u get a lot of residue on the bottom of the Fuse. Does Kalico make a set of stacks for the DLE55RA and the Mustang? Bet their "spensive" as Rickey Recardo would have said.

A lot less residue than what you think, it mainly settles on the rad scoop face. I don't mind wiping a little exhaust residue from the rad scoop at the end of the flying day. I have witnessed way to often what happens when exhaust tubes are left too long and a wheels up landing is required. The exhaust tubes contact the ground as the nose dips forward on touch down, the result is usually bent exhaust tubes and or the engine is ripped from the firewall. Keleo no longer makes exhaust stacks for IL engines, they now focus on exhaust systems for radial engines.

Well, With all the problems I'm hearing about the FG60 R3, I think I'll put mine in a cheap Seagull Monocoupe
Anyone here flying this bird with the Saito 61cc twin gasser?
Thanks,
Dan

I've run my 60 on my TF GS P-47 and it seems to pull like a monster idles so low it scares me. I'm wondering if I should the English mods or just leave it alone.. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it it" idea comes to mind

Mine is still on the test stand and I've only run it for about 10 minutes months ago! I have the Keleo exhaust ring on it and the Walbro conversion also! I'm leaning more and more toward sending it to Ray for the mods and then stick it in this bird!!!!!!

Hi guys, still flying my FW. my robart retracts are still a pain in the ^$$. the drill rod i used for my pins worked for a while until i had a little bump on landing and the model hopped a few times and Snap! one of the pins busted off and the gear folded outward taking my wheel pant/cover with it. it was repairable. i removed the drill rod and went with the shank of black hardened allen bolts. these have been holding up for now knock on my wooden head. i have a chance to pick up some sierras that a friend bought and is not using. my gut is telling me to ditch these robarts and get the gear inserts from sky shark and do the sierras. are there any images out there of the sierras installed with the inserts? do they install without changing the dihedral?
cool factor 10 on the 22x12 3 blade biela FW prop on this model. my EME 70 cc twin with electric start has been flawless and i am very pleased with it. it is really working to sling this prop and a 23x12 wooden prop flys the model much faster but the 3 blade is cool =D.
nice to see this thread is still going, i hope my images come through.

here are images of the snapped drill rod and the way i used the allen bolts.the allens are just tacked in place to show the head of the bolt. i am getting away with using my Lincoln 175 wire feed welder with .030 wire and just making little tack welds to fully weld the allen bolt in place.SO FAR, the allen bolts have been working but i really think i would like to do the sierras. how are the century jets working guys?

Just curious, why did you leave the head on the bolt, wouldn't it be easier to just weld the shaft in? I have been lucky with my pins, I have ripped the whole gear out of my wing but the pins have not bent so far. My gear is only one season old though.

i needed the length on the shank / part without threads of the bolt otherwise i would have threads where the collar slides and i didn't want to try that.i end up with an oblong hole where i grind out the pin and weld so i just made that bigger with the die grinder so the allen head fit inside. i tacked the allen in and then assembled it to make sure the angle of the strut was correct and when i was happy with it i pulled it apart again and weld it. theres not much for money into the repair but there is time and for what we paid for these robarts i think their kind of jip. my friend was able to piece together a a good set of robarts by using the double trunion or pins from the p-51 retracts.i havnt seen what entailed with it,he's the guy with the sierras for sale, i guess the p-51 retract parts cured his problem.
this is all it took for side loading to fail my robarts.i posted this video last year way back in this thread,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-EfDPu6rL4 it was a 12 min video i shortened to 6 min. just skip to the end to see the failure.

The best bet is sierras. that's what I have and had no problems. The $$ is ya, but worth it.im putting the EME in my P-47. Hope to get it off the table by spring.

Thanks. I had to do that captured bird because there are so many of the others. Also a friend ("The Black Nazi") who got me that kit I wanted to ruffle his fathers by doing that. It was fun and after bashing me for it...He said it is one of my better units...Right.
On my gears I just added some 1/8 ply to the inside of my blocks as I did the build. it helps on my HARD landings. The EME is the 55cc. With the starter and gear setup it's fitting great in the TF P-47. let me look and see if I have any pics.

Jagdpanther, I remember watching that video before. The pins must have got better in the newer gear. I've had my share of bad landings with this one, believe me, and no bent pins. I have to say though that I did the mod where I installed the second guide block.

tuskegee, you will love that electric starter. i have it in my 70cc and it has really saved my back and neck. kho, my friend is happy with his robarts once he installed the 2nd guide block so now i'm happy as i just traded some stuff for his new sierras.i did get by with 3 flights on the robarts last weekend and i managed to slick my landings so no issues. i just had to acquire these sierras my gosh they are beautiful. i will go with the sky shark installation kits but i do need some advice on some scale wheels . any suggestions?

Feathers officially ruffled Tuskegee I'll make sure my p47 represents as well.

I prefer if possible, using sierra gear in everything. Trust the best.

Still looking for a set of install kits for Sierra retracts? I have a set I just posted in the classified section. Opted to go with different retracts, so I have an extra set.
