SCRATCH BUILT P-38M NIGHT LIGHTNING
WELL I'VE BEEN WORKING ON THIS BUILD FOR A LITTLE OVER ONE YEAR AND I JUST DID A BIG WRITE UP ON THIS PLANE AND HIT THE WRONG BUTTON AND LOST IT ALL SO IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS JUST ASK I'M NOT WRITING IT ALL OVER AGAIN.
This plane was made from a modified set of Guillows plans and will have a 80" wing span and will come in around 20 -25 lbs every thing will be hand made you will see in the photos Engines will be two OS FS - 95V four strokes
and all control surfaces pushrods will be concealed.
The model I'm building is the plane on the end to the right simply called Night Lightning it's the first one built.

The flaps will be functional I made my own fowler flap hinges;
All of these parts were figured out while building and you will see that parts are cut off and cut in half or modifide in some way.

The skins on the booms is 1/16" balsa sheets wet w/ alcohol and cut into wedges to fit then thin CA GLUE is wicked in from behind while rubber bands held the sheets in place, when done they will be sand seald and primed w/ high build primer and then painted.
The wings will get 3/32" balsa sheeting and will be glassed,primer and paint

Very impressive! To accomplish all that from a set of Guillow's plans. I built my share of Guillow's kits as a kid and you have my admiration for blowing a set up large enough so to build such a large model. Also, you say in your signature "JACK OF ALL, MASTER OF NONE" - you are DEFINITELY a master fabricator in my opinion! Look forward to following this build to completion.....

The nacelle was also coverd w/ 1/16" balsa then the doors were cut out and used as molds to make the fiberglass
replacements I also made a battery compartment in the nose, and the nacelle will get glued to the wing once the two halfs of the wing are glued together.

Once I cast all of the pieces I started to work on the guns these I bought models so I would get great detail.
I cut holes through the nose and then glued plastic tubbing back in the holes (ports) where the guns extend out from.
