RE: Fokker Triplane!!
Just picked up one of the Busa 1/3 triplane. What servos are recommended or are you using? Also what's the best method for the streaking effect? Will be covering with Solartex natural. Thanks

RE: Fokker Triplane!!
JSZ,
For servos on the elevators and ailerons, I use Hitec servos with titanium gears. I find that they stay tight even after many years of use on them. The 645 which i use on the throttle and choke tend to start getting sloppy after as few as ten flights. For the rudder I use one the Hitec 1/4 scale servos with metal gears. They have big bearing and large control arms great for handling the loads of the large rudder.
For streaking on my model I used Solartex antique. If you use the white you might wish to consider putting down a light yellow cream base coat. To paint on the streak, I used unthinned house paint and for a brush, I used those cheap one dollar throw away ones. Just a little paint on the end of the brush and a light touch and it seems to work great for me.
Also here are a couple of mods I did to mine.
(1) Changed to a 3/8 drill rod axle. I did this as our field can be rough in places.
(2) Changed the four 3/8" balsa fuselage longerons to spruce.
(3) Changed the LE of the stab to Spruce and doubled the balsa TE and ribs. My first one turned into a pretzel when I shrunk down the covering.
Good luck on your build. Mine flies great with no bad habits in the air. Taxiing will take some getting use to.

They looked GREAT especially when when the two 190s were flying together.

RE: Fokker Triplane!!
I would like to use solartex on my build, but the weave is much too fine for 1/2 scale size, and would not bee seen after paint.
I most likely will have to use a normal aircraft type of linen and dope it to have a scale finish.

Rebel, go to aircraft spruce and look at the lightweight dacron. It is really cheap and is great stuff. Comes in a 5' roll then sold by the yard. You have to use balsarite to stick it on or maybe use dope. I amgoing to useit on my new triplane, and have already used it on a Kadet senior with dope as a trial build. Shrinks great.
