Thanks Jeff...let me tell all the folks out there that Jeff Micko (Jmik) makes all the fiberglass and plastic parts for this bird as well. They are fantastic and with the all glass necelles with the gear doors scribed in, it really makes fast easy work of the nacelles (X2). Pin hole free, great quality. You get:
Glass Nose
Glass Cowls
Glass Nacelles with gear doors scribed in
Fore and aft canopies
ABS tail cone and flapp/nacelle fairing bulges
Exhaust outlets (if you go that version, which I didn't)
Great stuff by Dave and Jeff M.

Thanks for the kind words, Jeffrey...I'll see if I can get Jon to update my page on MNbigbirds.com to list the parts available for Dave's new K-45.
After watching the video on your maiden, I'm thinking it could be a popular subject....

A fiberglass fuselage for this nice plane to go along with Micko's other parts is in the works. Hope get the plans printed this week to get started on it.
Please tell me if you might be interested in one.
Thanks,
Darren

I just got an e-mail from Dave. The plans will be released soon...It is just a matter of getting the webmaster to get www.mnbigbirds.com uploaded with the free plans download, unfortunately he is currently occupied with some personal issues. I will try to keep everyone posted on the release. If Darren make a glass fuse, look for the build time to be cut by about 1/3 the time..

I thought I would have to wait until I retire to build one of these, but if I can get a fiberglass fuse that changes things. I would be interested for sure. I used a fiberglass fuse from Brian O'meara when I built my 86" span Don Smith Ki-61, and it speeds up the build a lot and makes for a very nice finished model.

Downloaded the plans from MNBIGBIRDS site night before last, looks good. Now to get them printed and start saving my nickels and dimes to get the accessories. Can't wait, what a great looking bird. Been wanting one since waaaaay back when I first got the three views from Bob Banka in 1990's. Just never got around to doing plans myself. Thanks Dave for your efforts and letting us get the plans free of charge from the site. You're a true gentleman sir. Thank you. Best regards, John
PS, You wouldn't be thinking about doing a Petlyakov PE-2 in the works would you?

Thx for asking Dick, I have actually been in Norway for the last12 days. Daughter didn't mention any storm damage so assuming OK. We fly home tomorrow, so I guess we will see. Sounds like we just got some heavy thunderstorms. I too look forward to logging sme flights on the KI-45. Look forward to seeing you all this summer.

Got the top fuse half all stringered and ready for sheeting. Here is a shot of the navigator area, showing the shelf, and a picture of the cockpit area with inst panel support and cockpit shelf. So far smooth sailing and building quick. And yes, I see my camera date is wrong again...

This is really neat... on my 2nd monitor I am watching this plane fly ( while a video I just finished editing is rendering) and here I am watching you build it on this thread. to see the guts of it and see it fly at the same time I dont know it give me a whole new outlook and awe of these aircraft. Thanks for taking the time to post Jeff.. makes me understand the build process better and makes me less scared to jump into a project soon.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUw_5Qn-0Dc

Hello- I know I'm quite late to this topic. Very nice build, Jeff and Mr. Anderson. I downloaded the plans off Mr. Anderson's website.
Now here's where I'm going to be walking the line, so to speak. I want to preface my comment by saying flat out that the generosity of Mr. Anderson to provide these plans is simply stellar. I hope that someday I'll meet him face to face. I love FREE!
Anyway, I don't want this to be taken as a criticism, or a complaint, BUT (yes, here it is folks, the BUT) the pdf's I downloaded are raster pdf's and I'm a guy that just built a large laser cutter and I'm dying to put it to work.
Laser Cutter Video
To use the pdf's I would need to redraw them all in CAD (so I've read Merlyn Graves comment on in another forum) so that I can 'make everything fit, and fit right.
I totally understand this as once you blow up a raster file you have to trace. I don't want to do this. I want to learn my tools first and develop a 'process' for cutting that I can use over and again.
I do know how to use my cutter because I designed it from scratch and I've used it to cut many items. I am simply talking about the conversion from pdf to Dwg and then to my CAM CUT2D program.
So, I have to ask if anyone has a set of plans that are Vector in lieu of Raster in either pdf or preferably DWG, DXF? I know Mr. Anderson likey does because he's the designer. In fact if he would supply the Vector in Dxf or Dwg on his CD I'd buy it in a nano second.
In a pinch I suppose that the blown up plans would suffice for building but the Formers, wing Ribs, etc. I would prefer to cut on my Laser machine using Vector files.
Anyone like to comment?
