Getting ready to P-40 Tucson
Getting ready to fly #21 in Tucson for their Thanksgiving weekend fun fly with a new 20x10x3 Biela prop, custom cut Gene Barton Spinner & Lyle Vasser scale Pappy Boyington pilot.
Has anyone flown this type of prop on a 50cc?

I got started on a new (old) P 40 this weekend. This one has been around a while, check the date out on the second pic.
Either way, I am planning to make this one electric and install retracts. The kit has no damage and the parts have never been out of the plastic until this weekend.
It is going together really fast and it looks pretty good.

I am very impressed with the die cutting and the way all the parts fit together, they were way ahead of their time.
It's been hanging around long enough... time to fly!

I have just got the plans fot the 65" Brian Taylor P-40 and realized it does not show retracts. Can anybody give info on suitable retracts and how the wing needs to be modified to mount them please.

Clive:
I used Rohm Airs in mine, but that was about 33 years ago. They are no longer made, you might get a set through the want ads. Do not use the small Robart or Century Jet Models ones. They are cr*p. The best ones are from Sierra, the small 95 degree rotators, they are pretty much bullet proof. Buy them from http://www.vqwarbirds.com/product_in...82eb4020334529 . Send me a PM and if I can find them, I'll send you a PDF for the wing mod templates. 4" Robart scale wheels (with the nylon hubs) work well for this bird.
Cheers,

They are certainly "Beefy" They look like they are an early version of electric retracts before suppliers decided to make as much money for the least product.
