Nice pictures, thanks!
I was planning to modify the Sierra gear frames to actuate closer to 90 degrees but that won't work since the mod needs to increase the arc, where the locking brass pin travels, to an extra "around" 3 millimeters. So I hope Darrell has some of the 88 degrees frame available, I will need them soon!

Great looking rivets.
Did you use a sharpened brass tube ?

Thanks,
paul

Yes for the brass tube, the rivets are a bit too big for the scale and will use a smaller tube on the plane.

Really looks great Bruno! I wish I had your patience and ambition. Nevertheless, I'm to the point of the build where it's time to quit working on her and go fly! I just completed the clearcoat and wanted to post some pics of the "finished" product. Thanks Bruno for the nose art stencils, and let me know what you find out about the Sierra gear issue.

Awesome work Doug..........She looks ready for Sorties.

Maybe Bruno will get the hang of it someday. Maybe if he hangs around you some more, he'll learn something.

You crack me up Ron!! Did you ever figure out how you're going to get that Corsair? I knew Extra's were good for something besides roasting marshmallows over!

Looks great Doug!
I'm looking forward to fly formation with both Mustangs!
I still have few more coat of primer to spray on the fuselage before applying the aluminum tape, I will start with the flaps which just received the first coat of primer.

Well it took Doug about 10 years to teach me how to pronounce "Mustang" the American way!

Actually Doug we both walked away from the deal. He (the buyer) just didn't want to share in the expense of building a crate and shipping the birds. Anyway, it didn't work out. So I've still got an Aero Works 50cc Extra I wanna trade for a Warbird.

Bruno..........There'll be three GS mustangs flying in formation........

Ah come on fytrjok, somebody out there's gotta want a perfectly awesome Aero Works 50cc arerobatic IMAAC machine, and they have an Giant Scale Warbird in the hanger that they just don't wanna fly anymore. I know he's out there somewhere.

Some more putty on the fuselage then sanded, next step is to make the horizontal stab filets, panel line and mask where all the hatches will be placed.

Hey Casey!
I just got the magazine yesterday, not the best shot taken that weekend but nice to get a spot in MA. Looking forward to make the event in 2013 if school schedule allows.
Santa brought me couple nice autographed FW190 D9 books, plane I will be building in the future from a Meister Kit.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

There is a big gap between the elevators and fuselage so I added a piece of balsa with some micro-balloon.

That looks real good there Bruno! I would expect no less from you though.. I'm also building a Meister FW190 soon but not the Dora. I look forward to seeing what you do to it. Hey, do you have any good P-47 references?

Thanks Charles, I plan to build the Meister D9 but it will have to wait until I get all my actual projects done.
There is a very good local book store that focus on military, I purchased many books over there, try it out!

More work done, previously I wasn't planning to cut the trim tabs but changed my mind. I vacum formed the blister located on the center bottom wing from between the scoop and wing to the trailing edge of the inner gear doors. The stock scoop doesn't look close to scale, I know I am dealing with an ARF but making a mold of a scale scoop or a deviation take the same amount of work! Perhaps the Chinese need to take a closer look at a Mustang! Anyhow I started making a plug for a better looking scoop, at least closer to what it should look like, I'll post the pictures of the process when completed.
Happy New Year and all my best wishes to everyone!

More work done,
I relocated the air bottle into the back of the fuselage behind the scoop, it is easier to access and will help to balance the plane.
