How do you transport your war birds?
Ok I got 3 new topflite gaint war birds this wenter. I know some /most of you hall your war birds in trailers but I'm useing a 89Grand Wagoneer with a 9in lift and no back seats
As these birds have gun barrels in the front of the wing I figured I could make a stand out of PVC that would hold the plane and wing to take as little space as possible then add legs at the Felid to put it all together.
I will always be takeng 2 at a time.
Pics are great! So let's show the world how you transport your war birds

2003 GMC Extra Cab Long Bed. Campmaster cover. Made racks for fuse and wings. Bungee everything from moving. Can transport (5) 1/5 scale warbirds (one in back seat) all field equipment, canopy, chairs, table, and gets 21mpg on highway.

See the racks above the planes? There are two levels. The lower level has 2 wings sitting on them front to back. The upper level has two wings with the back halves hanging from bungee on ceiling of camper. The H9 P47 has 2 piece wing. It goes behind seat.

I suppose, but that would raise it up off the floor by about 1" or so if using a pvc "T" on the bottom rails. All the bolts used to secure the cradles would need to raise too. The legs would need to flare out a bit to make it more sturdy. I only used it for transporting. There was one cradle I put a "Y" at the ends of the handles, but that was not very useful, not very sturdy and pretty big and bulky. I use a separate cradle that I keep in the trailer to support planes for assembly. Its an X style that folds for easy storage.
