SPITFIRE MK9 Composite ARF
Hello guys
We would like to present our Supermarine Spitfire mk9 project.
This project is a joint building of Avi Sirota and Dani Golan from Israel, members of the Israeli Scale Club.
The project is based on a Composite ARF kit. Although it's an ARF kit, we decided to build the model including many hand made scale details Such as 100% scale cockpit, flaps, exhausts, tail landing gear and more
The aircraft is painted wearing a British scheme from World War II with the GZ-? (MJ 730) identification mark
The model is powered by a DA 85 equiped with a SLIMLINE exhaust.
The original plane was built in 1943 and participated in many combat missions including bombers escort
Why the "question mark"?
Well, this particular aircraft was selected by Squadron Leader George Silvester, as his personal plane. He remarked his ground crew that there was "a bit of a question mark" over which identity letter to give his personal Spitfire.
The ground crew, displaying a sense of humor, placed a large "question mark" where the individual code letter would have normally been. Squadron Leader Silvester, amused by the gesture, left this marking in place, and from that moment on MJ730 was referred to as 'The CO's Query.
The MJ 730 served in the Israeli Air Force from 1955 to 1957 and numbered 066
It was restored to flight condition and used today for ground and air shows.

Nice looking Mark... I do have a few questions.
1. How far back did you have to move the engine back?
2. How much weight did you have to add up front?
3. What equipment, if any did you have aft of the cg?
4. Are you using the small inboard flaps that you have to cut out?
I want to do the same mark and I also have a DA85 with the Slimline muffler. I also have a Quadra 100 and have not decided which motor to go with.
The Quadra is about 10 pounds too.

First step
Cockpit Building.
After cutting the cockpit area openings we made and installed the bulkheads No 8 to 12
We made bulkheads of wood covered with a thin aluminum sheet. We also made relief holes and installed rivets
