World models Zero 60 size
Hi all,
Please tell me what you think. I have a World Models Zero 60 sized. It weighs approximately 8 1/2 lbs after some extensive repair work. How do you think an OS 60 FX would fly the plane. I'm hoping to fly the plane in scale like fashion.
Thanks.

That weight is toward the heavy side of the envelope for 60s, but should not be a problem for that 60FX.
As for "fly it at scale speeds"............. The Zero was outrun by everything we had from about the middle of the war. It wasn't known for it's speed, but did climb well. So you'd not need to worry about level speed, but should want good climb. So prop it with a flatter pitch prop, and you might just be able to fly it scale like.
And if you're not entering it in contests, don't worry about any of it.

Throw a G90 in it, it can handle it easy. However a friend has one and I have seenothers. Veryheavy plane for it's size and the retract mounting blocks "NEED,MUST" be secured intheir better. Both these guys greased their landings and the retracts came right up through the wings.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try the OS 60 FX and see how it goes.
I had a G90 in it which was great but after two dead sticks I want something I can rely on.
Thanks,
John

RE: World models Zero 60 size
Hey WN,
I have one with an MDS 68 in there. Flys at a very scale looking speed. Plenty of power. Mine weighs in about 7lbs. Not that heavy. Havent had a problem with the gear though I did have to shim it up to prevent nose overs in the grass. My only complaint was the crappy undersized wheels they provide. I opened up the wheel wells up to the spar and put in some Dave Brown UL wheels. Ironically, we put down a nice fabric runway the next year, so the little wheels would have been fine. Go figure.
