Fokke RC Messerschmitt 109e 1/5th scale
#55
Ya I will crank up a thread here and on my website. You know I love to document my projects. This way when I forget how I did what ever I did in a build I can look back and find the information.

You know me well Brad. The reason I can crank a build out so fast is I have nothing else to do with my time

[QUOTE=fokke;11738639]Great Brad
I cut your instroment panel and must to send it soon
/QUOTE]
Ohh, beaudy, I love presents. Thanks mate.
As I said earlier I was to make wing tubes tonight,,,,, and I did
I do have release agent and wax for moulding fibre glass stuff but I have never used it before and didn't want to glue all this stuff together so went the full on physical barrier in the way of aluminium cooking foil and feathered the join out to the ribs with some 'Blue Tak' so resin would not get through the crack and ruin my day.
The 2oz glass cloth was cut as per the picture and I ended up with (about) three layers around the spar. Good old West Systems laminating resin stuck it all down and now I wait for 24 hours and attempt to slid the carbon spar out.
Good luck to me.
If all goes well the next step will be to fill in where the undercarriage legs tuck up so joining the first two ribs even further for strength and sorting the rear carbon spar and the holes in the ribs that they go through.
Cheers,
Brad

I have just emailed Lenny at http://shindinmachine.com/ME109/ME109.html for a price to supply me with a set of his great retracts.
I will go with Lado electric actuators once I know what to go with.
So much to do but so little getting done.

Ordered and paid for,,
Retracts, 1/5th scale with gear door mounts http://www.shindinmachine.com/ME109/ME109.html
Actuators, http://www.lado-tech.net/en/rs666/59-black-666.html with the 5mm threaded screw rod (as confirmed by Stephane just now,,,, I clicked on the 4mm thread )
So, when I have these I will be able to set up the UC mounts and associated frame work of the forward fuselage and make sure it is all good before gluing in.
I know I could be doing heaps of other stuff to the model but not just yet. I have some other stuff to deal with but it is always on my mind and I am wanting to get into it.
Next will be purchase a nice set of 109 wheels from Hawaii.
Cheers,
Brad

The retracts will mount in the fuselage as per the full size and this is why I have not forged ahead and fitted all the internal stricture as I am still waiting for my retracts to arrive from Shinden.
I will have to contact them soon if they do not arrive in the next couple of weeks. I'm pretty disappointed actually. My smaller set from them for my ESM 109 only took a few weeks.
Cheers, thanks for looking in.

I think I am going to have to resubscribe to my own thread guys,,, sorry did not see that you had posted. Just was checking the order date for my retracts.
BubbasanJohn thanks for the thought but this is not the case. Believe me I tried every conceivable position for the webs and this is how it all sat together the best. It all lines up nicely with the fuselage and the dihedral is very close so I am happy.
Hey Mr Fokke, wow, another reason to visit the post office,,,no not as yet mate. No instrument panel. Oh, this will so get me back in the shed.
Maybe the postman has forgotten my little town here where the desert meets the sea.
Cheers guys,,, subscribed hahaha.

Now it was time to start with the fuselage internal structure that connects every thing together. In the pictures you will see I needed to trim a bit of material off to get things to fit just nice. With this kind of kit (Limited Editions) one must expect this and time must be taken to get things fitting right and nice and square. So with a bit of trimming and sanding and test fitting things are starting to come together. I'll continue dry fitting every thing I can before committing to glue.
Next is to drill for the retracts and start cutting out the fuselage openings.
Cheers,
Brad
