Drilling out a Skyshark Spinner Back Plate to 12mm?
Hi guys, I have a Skyshark FW-190 metal spinner that I'm using on an electric warbird. I'm using an Eflite motor with a 12mm adapter. The 3/8" back plate hole has to be drilled out to 12mm as I'm pretty sure I want to use the OEM prop adapter for the motor. I asked the Skyshark guys quickly on the phone recently how to do this and they suggested a step drill.
Have any of you guys got some experience drilling out a Skyshark (or any brand really) aluminum spinner back Plate to a larger size than how it comes? Did your method result in a nice, well-balanced and tru turning spinner? I am concerned about getting the back plate off center. Thanks in advance.

When I've had to do this, I've taken my backplate to a local machine shop and had them do it. You will be guaranteed to get a perfectly centered hole and it doesn't cost much.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. A friend of mine milled it for me, he has access to some very nice machine shop tools and it's within a thousandth of an inch - perfect fit. Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. And Barry, if you see this, thanks again for the offer to help.
