Got to maiden the ME190 E4 today, flew great at 17lbs but ended dead stick and landed gear up in the field. No damages except for few little cracks on the cowl, I will give it another try next weekend and this time with an on-board glow (inverted Saito 180 for power) .
Very interested to hear more about your Saito 180, FChef.
I managed to score a 180 four-stroke that I'd like to put in my 109.
What airframe is yours? Mine's a CMP 'Hahn' - wondering if the Saito might be too big/heavy/powerful for it?

That install looks really tight. I had a 180 in a DR1 tripe for 8 years. Fantastic engine. It did want on board glow.
Maybe you can stand off your cowl mounts some to create some exit air? That install looks like it may get pretty hot.
Great looking 109 and congrats on the maiden!

It is an interesting sheme in deed but all I know about the full scale is that it flew in 1941, possibly based in Düsseldorf it was part of group 3 of the Nachtjagdgeschwader (night Fighter), 3/NG1 for short .
No info about who flew it and any other history, if anyone has more info and pictures of this Me 109E-4 I would appreciate if they can share.
I did found the following shot, hard to see but it might be the full scale, many color profiles can found online but the full scale might had the (J) letter in red with a white outline instead of grey.

Working on an on-board glow with a 4600 cell, did considered converting the engine to gas but may as well getting a DLE35 RA.
I don't think the engine was overheated at the time it quit, here is a picture just before the engine stopped. I was testing the stall with and without flaps just before and running a lot at idle.

Nice Bruno. Still beating my D11 to death.. I'm really hoping to have paint on this soon. I had to significantly modify the 1/4 scale kit so some items were omitted. Who even knows what details my version had as the only real images I've seen of it were of its destruction.

Check that muffler. I've had a Saito 180 inverted for years years, and all the deadsticks I've had were caused by the muffler coming loose. I hate that double locking nut setup with the elbow they use. Never seems to hold even with loctite.
